Last month NCSoft launched the NA servers which are 100% content / 100% free with the 3.0 patch, unlike EU free2play which is heavily restricted and doesn't have 3.0 yet. Seems like it's gaining popularity pretty damn quick going by the server populations so I figured I'd see if any other arfcommers are playing.
I'm over on the Israphel server which seems to be the most populated server with not so many gold sellers.
I tried it today, seemed pretty standard (and very pretty). Runs really nicely on my old machine as well.

It's a fairly badass mmo and the graphics are awesome if you've got a machine that can handle the advanced engine and higher settings. Now that it's in NA and truly free it's shooting up in popularity.
For those curious and/or want to give it a try...

Just register there, then download/install the NCSoft Launcher, then install and launch Aion via that launcher. I don't really know about any differences between servers apart from which coast they're on, but Israphel and Tiamat seem to be the most populated. I'm on Israphel.
Pick up and do all the quests you can find, don't be too picky otherwise the level grinding will suck.
If you're doing a hard quest or campaign quest, watch the chat for others making groups for that same quest. Sometimes you need a group to get the job done.
Don't sell all your useless junk to NPCs. Some of it is worth a bit on the broker. This is an easy way to fill your pocket early in the game.
Watch for legions recruiting in chat. If you can get in to a well-populated legion that accepts all lvls then you'll have people to grind out quests with.
If you can get a friend to join the game with you then that makes it a lot more fun.
I played Aion for about three months starting with launch, and got bored with it at one month. It was the same old grind, and while the rune stone specs, the rifting and open world pvp aspects were fun, the game itself just sucked. Coincidentally enough, I was on Israphel as well.
