Annoying piece of lint in my viewfinder...
rebel xsi....there is a tiny piece of lint that I can see when i look through the view finder. This not showing up in the images, but it's annoying to see when I framing my shots. I can't find the damn thing!!!!
I've cleaned the sensor, the mirror, the glass associated with the mirror, and have removed every stray piece of lint I can find. Im convinced that it must be somewhere deep within the body. I've used an air duster (damn near an entire can) to no avail.
What are my options?
Try holding it upside down and blowing some air on the focusing screen, and try to blow some behind it if you can. I had some up there in my 60D but it was pretty easy to remove since the focusing screens are removable.
Did you ever get it out? You sure the lint's not on the mirror damper? Also, it's pretty easy to take the viewfinder out if you have a pair of good tweezers.
Still there....gave up after a few hours. I'll play around with it again on the weekend if I get a chance. It's annoying, but it's not affecting the pictures, so I'm not stressing about it at the moment.
How does the viewfinder come out?
Didn't look like it was modular?

I'm pretty sure it's just on the focusing screen as PooFire indicated.
Just take off the lens with the camera off, tilt it down, and use a Rocket Blower to blow air towards the focusing screen. That should be enough to dislodge any particles. Lint/dust on the focusing screen always happens.

A rocket blower isn't going to work if he used compressed air.

I used just about a whole can of air....sprayed into every possible opening....no dice.
The lint didn't even budge.
Where ever it is, it's deep up in the view finder. My thinking is that if it got there, it will eventually shake off.
Thinking about just driving around with the body in my truck for a few days to see if the motions and force of driving and taking turns shakes it loose.

Canned air is a bad idea. There is lots of other chemicals in the can that may get stuck on the sensor/filters.
Send it back to canon service, it will only take 1-2 weeks (in my experience) and shouldn't cost too much, just call them and ask.
Usually what I do is wait until I have multiple pieces of equipment that need attention, then send them all in at once.

Canon Service Center in Irvine (California) is about 45 min away (30min if I really try to drive fast). When I drop off for cleaning, they ship it back and I get it in 2-3 days.
