After 2 years, my computer is telling my that ,y copy of Windows 7 is not genuine.

Not sure how this can be, I bought the computer from Fry's Electronics. It was a factory reman. Toshiba. I ran the "Microsoft Genuine Advantage Diagnostic Tool" and the following is what is up. The key code on the bottom of the laptop is un-readable, so I have not entered that again.

Diagnostic Tool results. Anyone know what the "file mismatched" and "tampered file" means? I'm guessing a virus? I have Windows Security Essentials installed on here. I have also been having a intermittent problem with the blue screen of death and a MOM.exe file. Whenever this hits and I restart the computer, it goes though disk check.

What happens if you do a system restore to a time before it told you windows wasn't genuine?

Mine did that until I did a full system restore to original factory configuration.

One of the windows 'updates' probably corrupted or fucked your system.

This has always happened to me when hardware failure was imminent.

I did a restore, but the only restore option was only 2 days old.

Makes sense, though I've never experienced it.

Hardware was the first thing I thought of before even clicking on the thread.

Great......

Just get everything off of there.

Is the computer under any kind of decent warranty?

No. It was $250 a few yeas ago. It was re-manufactured by Toshiba. I'll back everything up tonight.
