Hello All,
My company has a community service group which does various things through out the year to help various organizations. It has been a little while so i proposed we should do something for the troops. I have been doing a little research and came across a group a the following
LINK. Has anyone done anything with this group and or know anything about them. Is this a legitimate group?
Also in the care packages would it be appropriate to send envelope and some postage for them to use and a self address stamped envelope for them to send something back to use? I would love to see a picture of the guys we are helping or just get a quick letter letting us know they received the items.
Any other ideas are appreciate.
Thanks
I used them a couple years ago to get some packages out to USCG folks over there. Then I got involved in a couple support efforts started here on ARFcom.
Very stand up outfit. The site has some good info. My experiences went very well.
There have been some complaints here that much of their stuff does not make it to front line troops. I cannot substantiate those claims.
Pretty good organization. As far as the letter writing material. We generally have a lot of it floating around and postage is free for normal size letters for us over here.
Another way is to solicit Soldiers here and see what their groups may need.
Any soldier is a good group but the problem is that most of them aren't on the front lines. My cousin over there tells me that most of the people on there are in the rear. His group is front line and they never see anything from them. It's better to hook up with someone on the board that has someone deployed, that way you know that you are doing the best for them instead of giving some desk jockey all your stuff.
Like I said ask here and someone will be more than happy to give you a name. I put my cousins in for christmas with a group here and he got 15 boxes of stuff for him and his fourty men. Oh, and he is a first sgt, not a sir...sirs aren't allowed to get anything because they don't do much except move around and look like they are working as he says :)
