 Glasses fogging?

Hey guys, I remember reading something somebody posted on a thread here about having problems with glasses/nightvision scopes fogging? Well, I'm in a scuba diving class right now, and we were having the same problem. Our instructor had us take dishwashing soap (just enough to cover the lenses) and rub it over the lenses, then rinse them off before putting them on. Apparently that creates a micro-thin layer that repels water on the lenses or something. It's not 100% effective, but it helped a lot. There are also commercial anti-fogging solutions out there that probably work better.

Note: this is something that I would try in a safe place first (obviously), just to make sure it works for you

Just figured this might help some of y'all out. You guys kick ass.

I went through JRTC in August a few years back and the humidity was terrible so our glasses fogged a lot. We took regular bar soap, and rubbed it all over our eye pro and then just wiped if off with a clean towel. We didn't have any problems after that.

It's the glycerin in soap that has the anti fog properties. Pretty much anything with it in it will work.

Diving.... I used spit for the last twenty years. Most dive boats will have that five gallon bucket of soapy water to rinse your mask in. After the trip they use the same bucket to clean the boat.

One other item to try is "Cat Crap" I've used it on all kinds of goggles and glasses but never on dive mask, give it a shot.

I use Ivory bar soap. Rub it on dry, wipe it off. You can't fog your glasses even if you put them in your mouth an blow on them. Amazing!!!!.

Rifle Bore Cleaner and most other gun oily gun lubes can work. Wipe lenses with oil and then buff dry with a clean rag. Leaves a film on the lense that prevents fogging.

The best product I found was the old M17 gas mask anti-fogging kit. Small oil soaked cloth in a small grey canister with a screw on lid. Haven't seen it for years but I tries RBC and LSA soaked into a clean lint free cloth and achieved the same good results.

Available at any dive shop world wide. The gel variety works much better though.
