any civilian security contractors? i have a few questions
What experience do they look for?
How much do you make?
What companies are the best?
Who is hiring?
What is the future of the industry?
If you can be more specific about which side of the contracting businees you are referring to, I and others here might could give you some better answers. Your question is a little vague.
I hate to sound sarcastic but the answers are self evident.
What experience do they look for? Depends on the job just like any other job. There is not one standard.
How much do you make? Varies by job and location. Currently some static siter positions are making less than $75,000 and the days of making $400 a day are pretty much over.
What companies are the best? Every company sucks and every company is great. Depends on your point of view. There are some bottom feeders out there. Log onto SOCNET.com and scroll to the bottom of the page. There is a thread on vetting companies. Good source of info.
Who is hiring? Surf the internet like everyone else. Do a search on all the websites you posted these questions. Should have done that before posting. Some specific questions you asked have already been answered in this forum. Do some leg work.
What is the future of the industry? As Iraq and Afghanistan draw down, security type contracts will start to go away.
Also, don't post these questions on too many multiple sites. tends to piss people off.
Is military or LE experience a must? Im currently employed as a FF/Paramedic with about 7 years experience and have an interest in the field but assumed I wouldnt qualify. Thanks and stay safe.
Sounds like this job would work for you a bit better
If you want to go be a security contractor overseas, you really need a background of being a gunfighter.
You are competing against guys who have up to 10 years of experience (if not more) of shooting at people for a living...
So, who is the hiring manager going to choose? Who would you choose?
That's about what I figured. I've actually considered the contract firefighting groups but if I'm going somewhere it might get nasty I wanna have at least a chance of getting nasty back. 5.56 and 7.62x39 tends to trump a firehose.
Thanks and stay safe.
