I'm thinking of getting my CFA. I have a series 7 and 66 license and work for a broker/dealer. My current role does not require a CFA designation, but I think it would be a good move career wise. So, if you're a CFA...
1. Would you recommend it? I mean did it help you professionally?
2. How much did you study?
3. In terms of test difficulty, how did it compare to others you have taken, such as series 7, GMAT, etc.?
I've done a lot of research online but wanted to ask here as well.
I am not a CFA, but I work with several.
Like you, I am on the sell side of the business.
Per one of the CFA's in my shop: The CFA is not relevant to the sell side, not at all like it is on the buy side. Depending on what you do daily, you might look at the CFP- it's a better fit for the sell side.
My thinking would be along the same lines: The CFA doesn't have the name recognition for retail investors the CFP does.
And I'll add this: One of the smartest dudes I ever worked with (96 on S7) failed level one three times.
That test is a bear.

My BIL is working on it.
Passed 1 & 2 and failed 3.
Has to wait a year I think to re-take it.
He studies A LOT.
And he ain't dumb. But from what I can figure, once you pass you likely won't want for work.
