Mama is looking at the XC90, however looking at the specs it appears that the XC70 w/ the AWD option might be the best balance of vehical to $$$$. Any input ?????? Thanks

Just purchased an XC70. Couldn't be happier with it. My understanding is that the early model 90s had some issues but I am unsure as to what they were. Are you looking new or used?

Best,-Coop

Ours was purchased used -2004.

What year are you looking at? The 01-02 XC70s has major problems and I would avoid them at all costs.

The early model xc90s had some issues so I would try to get a 06 or newer.

If you are considering the XC70, you might want to look at the 03-09 subaru legacy wagons.

Avoid the twin turbo XC90's at all cost. The GM sourced transmissions were good for about 50k before they self-destructed. When we were car shopping for my wife's last car, we started out looking at the Volvo XC90's and after doing a lot of research ended up with a Ford Freestyle. Same platform, same safety and features, less power, but greater reliability and lower cost. We bought the car used and an in talking to the seller who bought the car new, they also started out looking at new XC's and ended up with the Freestyle.
