LED turn signal help please
MY 01 R1 had no turn signal s when I bought it, i purchased some LED flush mount ones from amazon, and they don't work, at 1st I was able to get them to function as running lights only, I had to get a new tail light/turn signal unit too, that works fine, but for some reason the fronts don't want to do anything. they will only light up solid.
any recommendations?
Yep you need a load equalizer. It puts a false load on the circuit to let the flasher work.
you will need a flasher relay that is made for LED's or to add in resistors on the leads for the lights.
Most bikes have the front lights as running/signal lights. Bikes that use actual bulbs would have a ground and two other wires, one for the low filament for running light and one for the high filament.
Depends on what your bike has. The solution could be different. If the bike had incandescent bulbs originally, you will likely need to change out the blinker unit to one that will function with LED lights.
like said earlier, make sure it has 3 wires to each light for the front. if they do and it is wired up properly find your stock turn signal relay and take it tot the auto parts store with you and get an electronic flasher relay that will replace the stock one and you should be good to go.
