Jim, When I try to access Shooting USA site I get a message about a problem with flash add-on. Every other site works. Anyway what is this weeks question?

UPDATE, I googled gun a month and got to the page that way so I'm good to go!

If you have taken automatic updates from Microsoft you may have the new Internet Explorer 8 version. (I don't take anything on auto from them, I don't trust them.)

But, I installed version 8 on a little used computer and found a "compatibility" tab that seems to shut off the problems in the new browser.

See if that is any help, if you've got that new version.

Update: It's definitely Internet Explorer version 8 that has lately been installed by automatic down-loads. It's not the flash, or we don't think it is.

The problem is only on the home page at www.shootingusa.com Interior pages are working.

This morning we'll be calling in all our available consulting nerds to try to figure out what IE is mad about. I downloaded the IE update this morning... and now I can't get to the home page either.

Meantime, here's a back door link to the gun-a-month page, if you are having trouble getting in:

OK! Fixed!

For the little I understand of the tech, here's the explanation:

Adobe changed Flash last Friday and didn't tell the function service providers. But only Internet Explorer 8 was sensitive to the change.

The service provider of the Flash building program used for the sliding promotion photos on the home page worked the weekend to engineer a fix. We found the fix, thanks to those of you who sent a note that the site was crashing in IE-8.

Makes me think I should be using Firefox or Safari or Chrome, but we're now up and running normally in whatever you use to browse.
