I finally received the drawers I ordered for my new wineador, now I need to smoke some of these cigars to make room for some new ones.

Nice. I really do like the wineador thing. Considering how much one can spend on just a regular wood and glass humidor, they really are a great deal price-wise, since you get such great control of not just humidity, but temp too.

Temp control is the one thing I REALLY want to do something about with my big homemade cabinet humidor. I have never seen it get over 73 degF, and it is around 70degF +/- 1 deg 99% of the time, which is just fine, but I would be MUCH happier and more comfortable if I had control over the temp, and were able to keep it more around 65 degF.

Have considered converting a cheaper liquid cooling/fan system for computers and adapting that to work, but they aren't cheap, I'm not sure how well it would work, and by the time I convert it to work, I likely could have built something as good or better from scratch. Plus, I would really like to be able to add heating OR cooling as necessary (although being indoors, I cant imagine ever needing to add heat, just coll it some), just in case, and just so I have total control and can keep it steady.

Just finished converting, and am now testing, one of the 2 lower cabinets on my humidor as a dedicated space for long term aging in boxes (it was just being used for supply storage under the main humidor section), so I guess it's time to start cruising the web for info/parts.ideas on doing something for temp control now, since it looks like the doc isn't going to sign off to let me back to work for at least another week (been off a week already after spending 3 days in the hospital and am now starting to get a little buggy).

I'm guessing by the time you buy everything to cool your humidor you will have spent more then what a wineador would've cost.

Almost certainly true, but I currently have a 4'x4'x1.5' cabinet (with a 1.5'x1.5'x1.5' additional area just for long term aging), so I would need several large wineadors just to replace that one.

Odds are, this one will never get temp control, since I need to expand anyway, and plan to build myself a nice, BIG, walk-in humidor with all the goodies once I finally break down and buy a house. This cabinet would really then just become used mainly for display and decoration than as an actual humidor per se (meaning I would use it really just to display ones in particularly attractive boxes, old/rare ones, etc. Functional decoration, but really just decoration).

Mainly thinking about the idea for fun, and estimate the cost, spitball ideas. and figure best, cheapest, easiest way to do it once I build the walk-in. Really all just on paper (and google links) for fun at this point. I could see me getting a smaller winedor to sit near the easy chair though, acting as a bigger, nicer version of the plain 'ol desktop humidor I have by my chair now just to keep a small selection nearby to the relaxation zone. Wineadors really are a great idea for the money though. MANY props to the first guy to turn one into a humidor. Truly a stroke of genius.

Had VERY severe asthma (brought to ER unconscious and put on ventilator more than a few times, usually spent 7-10 days at a time in the hospital -23 times a year back then) until I was about 17 or so. No medicine, no issues for the last 20 years, then all of a sudden starting a few months ago, I began having some issues again. Had just gone to see the doc about getting back on some daily meds in case in was coming back vs just being a few recent fluke things.

Called in to work sick in AM,and Wife found me a few hours later in my chair very pale, lips and fingernails turning bluish, sweating, and mumbling incoherently. Taken to ER, had WAY too much CO2 and not nearly enough O2 (73% pulseox initially, they couldn't get me over 88% at rest on 7L O2). Ended up on ventilator for a day, and admitted for 3 days total. Am on like round 8 (not exaggerating either, they have given me a TON of just about every one there is, IV and oral) of antibiotics and a ton of the usual asthma meds.

We are all hoping that its just a lung infection that triggered everything, but evidence seems to point to it being a dramatic return of my asthma, with some possible infection just making it so bad, so fast. Sucks. Still on 6L O2 at home just to keep pulseox over 92% at rest.

The upside is, since I dont inhale cigars, I dont have to give them up at least, in fact, even the doc has no issue with cigars at all since I don't inhale them (not even retrohale through/into the nose. Tried once or twice, didn't like it). I'd REALLY be pissed if I had to give up cigars, as they are one of my only "luxuries" in life, and something I REALLY enjoy and have become a big part of my life and relaxation routine over the years.

It is a bummer being off work, but not really able to enjoy as much as I could be, since I have to shut off and remove the oxygen to smoke one obviously, and I am really trying to keep it to a bare minimum since as much a I enjoy a good cigar, I enjoy breathing even more, so...

I am keeping myself to one in the AM with my coffee, and one shortly before bed at most and I am holding off smoking anything that takes an hour or more, so I can keep the O2 on as much as possible. (yes, I know I should keep it on all the time, and just hold off on cigars for a bit, but I discussed it with the doc, and he is perfectly ok with this compromise)

Hopefully all just a temporary bump in the road, and really was just an infection as the main cause and I wont have to deal with all the asthma bs all over again.

Sorry for the breif hijack OP.

Meant to ask the OP where he got the drawers from. They look really nice, and I am thinking of replacing the glass shelves in my cabinet with slotted cedar, and possibly having something made to better hold singles on the bottom too (would like some non-fixed trays that hold cigars individually so they cant roll around and are better protected)

I had bad bouts with Asthma in my teens as well, mostly exercise induced and allergy triggered. I went on through my late twenties without needing any treatment and remained active. Career hit exercise dwindled and a wife came along, and so did my symptoms. Made time daily to exercise and the Asthma retreated. Weird right. I have stuck to that program and "knock on wood" have had no relapse.

I wish you well and in my case have found lung edurance seems to be key. Lots of cardio.

Get well soon.

I bought them from Forrest at winadors.com they have the bloodwood fronts, he was having trouble getting the bloodwood so I would ask him about the availability if you are going to go with the bloodwood fronts.

He can pretty much build whatever you want

Cool. Thanks a bunch. there seem to be a only a few places that custom make cedar shelving and such, and i keep really only seeing the same ones over when I google. Want to get a coupe things for my cabinet, but this is beyond my skill level so I appreciate having another place to look into for it. Thanks again.
