 Contour Helmet Cam on HGU-56/P?

Any good safe FOD-free ways to mount this thing? I was considering using a low profile mount, removing the double sided tape it comes with, and attaching it with two part composite adhesive, then dummy cording the camera to the helmet after its affixed to the mount. I was given a camera by someone who wasn't using it, and I want to mount this for helicopter rappel and long line trainings for AARs after the fact. Obviously won't be wearing it on live missions. I'll also pick up the vent mount for my normal rappel helmet.

I've got mine mounted on my caving helmet using 3M Dual Lock (like really heavy duty velcro). It also has a small tether from the camera to the helmet, so even if it gets knocked out of the mount it's not going anywhere.

One of my flight medics did exactly this last time we were in Iraq, no one really gave him any trouble about it, and looking at it from a pilot standpoint. If we hit hard enough to knock that thing loose, I had bigger things to worry about, like what I wanted my last living memory to be for example.

hahaha. Makes sense. How strong is that dual lock? I will be out in the airstream whenever I am on the helo, weather briefly (rappel) or for the entire duration of the flight (long line). As long as the install is virtually bombproof, I don't want anyone to have any reason to complain.

The dual lock is pretty solid...it takes a pretty good hit to knock the camera loose.

I do worry a bit about this on a motorcycle helmet.

I'm concerned mounting a hard object on the helmet can create stress points, particularly if on the temples, that could subvert the helmet's protective properties if really needed. Anyone ever thought this through?

I wouldn't mount it using a hard attachment. Use a breakaway mount (such as Dual Lock). Use a lanyard to secure the camera to the helmet in case it comes off.
