You're jealous because...
...today I fired the GUA-8 30mm Avenger out of the Hawg today. And yes, it was the coolest thing you could do with your clothes on. That is all.
Keep practicing. My ass may depend on you someday.
Gig 'em,
backbencher
Cool. Were any ragheads on the receiving end?
Congrats! Brought back some memories, so I drug out my logbook. I flew SA-1 on Mar 20th 1980. While cool, I think the first flight was more noteworthy. There was no A-10 sim back then. It was pretty amazing to fly something that big (compared to a T-38) for the first time and you're solo. Congrats! I'd love to get my grubby paws on a C model. I go back to the days before we even had an INS.

SA-1 for me is going to be definately more memorable. I think the real adrenaline rush came from not pulling the trigger, but seeing my rounds hit the truck in the bomb circle and seeing the sparks and dust fly everywhere.
When you did LIFT back in the day, did you guys get to drop the BDU-33s and shoot the 7.62? Yesterday was the first time I've actually got to employ weapons after 2 years of training, it was a long time coming.

You'll love it, I can't wait to lob some rockets down range.
And all I can say is "THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE"

Yes to the BDUs, no for the gun. There were some issues with the guns and they weren't using them at that time (late 79, early 80) and basically, if I recall correctly, you couldn't get decent hits without fouling, or they had to do a manual count on the rag as the little 7.62 wouldn't work the acoustic scoring system with a normal 2000 ft cease fire. It was something along those lines at any rate. You could actually feel the BDUs come off in the T-38, not like dropping them off TERs on the Hog. LIFT was at Holloman then and the B models definitely had a heavier nose than the As. It was quite noticeable in BFM and ACM. I did get to fly with an upgrading WSO a couple of times which was interesting––2 2nd Lts in the same airplane, hell of a concept javascript:insertText('

I'm not jealous. I'm damn excited for you.
Super cool.
Congratulatons and thanks for you service.
Off we go into the wild blue yonder...

Remember, every time a Hawg farts, a Hajji gets his 72 virgins...

You get paid for that?
I'd do it for free!
Seriously though, you have a cool job.
My E&E travel partner at SV-80 was a 2Lt A-10 driver with no sense of danger. Almost got me captured a couple times.
