am I the only person in the world who hates DMB?

I've yet to meet another person who actually "dislikes" or "hates" Dave Matthews Band. Its not one thing in particular that bothers me, just in general the music and people who love DMB really get under my skin. What does the hive think?

I don't care for most of the fans, but I do kind of like the band. Carter is a monster on drums and the new guy on sax rocks as well. I've been to a number of shows because my wife is a long time fan. Most of the time I really enjoy it.

Seen them at several shows I like them.

I don't care for them either. I switch channels or shut off the radio anytime they're on.

I'm not a fan of the band either. IMO, they are a bunch of great musicians that got together and wrote/recorded/perform some rather crappy music. On their own each of them are capable of so much more.

I agree. I'm not bashing their musical skills, just the music they put out.

i went from really liking them to NOT liking them right around lilywhite/busted stuff! dmb got too commercial and i just grew out of that phase in life. now i can ONLY listen to a few songs once in awhile and i have probably seen them 8-9 times live. they really get under my skin too.

Agreed - that, and his singing voice makes me want to smash him in the face - it's really irritating to listen to...

My wife loves them and I absolutely hate them.

Their music, and lyrics are depressing as fuck. If I was going to eat a bullet, I'd do it while listening to DMB.

I fucking hate them with a passion. Does that help?

Your post is timely. I took my daughters out for ice cream today and a Dave Matthews song played in between the Christmas tunes. Christmas music typically irritates me, but I couldn't wait to hear Silver Bells or some shit once DMB came over the speakers. Every time I hear that man's voice it's like an icepick to the brain. He basically embodies every bad vocal technique I can personally identify, not the least of which is that tight-throated sound that I can only compare to someone choking a frog; it's a miracle IMO that anyone heavy in the music biz ever gave that fucker the time of day.

Sure the band members have some chops, but I really couldn't care less. There are a lot of good players out there that lucked into playing behind a great singer, and thankfully I can pay attention to them instead. Dave Matthews pretty much casts a pall over any decent musician he stands in front of, so screw him AND his band.

My last point is that his songwriting is mediocre at best. I guess you're somewhat limited in what you can write when you only have a vocal range of one octave, anyhow.

So you have a lot of sympathy from me, OP. Why others have any enthusiasm for the man is beyond me.

they may have one song that I like.

However, Pearl Jam. There is nothing they have ever done that has any worth or merit.

I've tried....great acoustic guitar but as a whole?.... I can't listen to much of what they have to offer...

I think they are a very good band and millions of people like them for a reason, but they pretty much bore me. They are a great group of folks, real people that connect with their fans very well.

One good song: Ants Marching.

The rest suck. DM is one of the worst singers of all time.
