Any info on the VLTOR Bren??
Does VLTOR have a booth this year?
If so, could someone please ask for a status update on their Bren Ten project, please.
Pictures would also be FANTASTIC!
Thanks in advance!
Oh yea... And if anyone would care to, I could really use some dillo dust if LaRue still has any that they are passing out!

VLTOR was there, and they did have it on display...but I didn't get to ask them what the production status is. It's definitely not dead though :)
Here are the first photos I have found, looks like they have come a long way from last year!

I am curious about when they will be in full production as well, there has not been an update at the Fortis weblog since 12/10 so there must be some more info to be heard. Here is a link

Spoke to them at length! They have corrected several of the mechanical short comings of the original Bren Ten, Exterior is identical. They are looking at 6-8 month before full production will start. They have extensive contracts that they need to complete that has tied up their time. They project is funded and they are looking forward to getting the guns out! They will let the people following the Fortis Site know first. It appears they may sell direct intially. I personally thought the pre production models looked great! My very early Bren wasn't close and I never got a mag! Everyone I spoke with was very motivated and informed. Can't wait to ge my first two!
Sounds like good news to me! I am reading "Bren Ten: The Heir Apparent" which is an outstanding book regarding the original efforts to produce this design. I believe that a company such as Vltor with plenty of experience in weapons manufacturing AND more than one project to stand upon will be able to do this. The previous attempts at this pistol design were certainly wrought with management and financial problems and they could not get vendors to supply quality parts to build the gun. I just hope nothing changes legally to prevent the Fortis from becomming a reality for consumers, I will get at least one and possible two of them.
Would anyone be able to get some closeups of the SMV model? Different angles, etc. Please.
Thanks!
I spoke to who I think was one of their engineers. He said that they are starting out replicating the original design as close as possible (fixing flaws as they go), and once they have that down they will make variants. He spoke specifically about moving some controls, replacing the cross bolt safety, adding rails, and Novak style sights.
He also said that while it will initially be offered in 10mm and .45ACP, they were seriously looking into producing it in 9x25mm (10mm case necked down to 9mm - 2000 FPS muzzle velocity).

Looking at vltor's website, and with my shotty memory, I'm pretty sure we talked to the head honcho.

As knowledgeable as he was, I wouldn't be surprised.
the guy there told me that Ruger was making the frame and all the internals for them.
slide is from heavy bar stock... production sometime in 2nd quarter... retailing at about 1,000$... thats what i remember, without having to dig for my notes...
Thanks alot for the info guys. Much appreciated.
I noticed on the other forum that there was a discussion regarding the Miami Classic holster not being offered by Galco for this pistol. If someone could post over there that has access, I can get the numbers of the holsters on mine that are built for the S&W4506. I had read at one time that those frames and slides are similiar enough to be completey interchangeable between both models. Also, sometime back, the BrentTen forums had contracted with Ted Blocker, the original maker of the Lifeline holsters, and had a special run made for the Brens. I know Blocker still has the patterns to create that holster.
Just a thought, might not be a bad idea if Eric contacted Blocker about having the holster included in addition to the pistol or at least on the 08SMV models.

Didn't hear anything about Ruger, but he did tell me it was a $1000 or so price point.
