Hey go to free books on the Kindle and type in Zombie or Post Apocalypic. I have not read them yet but there are a good many of them that are free. I think a lot may be short stories, novellas and a few novels thrown in by new authors. I hope to be one of them very soon with some free shorts, novella and then full length novels.

Let us know after you search them out what you read and whats good.

Read -Day by Day Armageddon - Two books in the series, third is due out later this year. I believe he released the first two in a combined one book last year. Very good, and written from a military point of view.

First chapter for free pdf - HERE

The Eden series by Tony Monchinski is really good and I hear there is a book four just waiting for a green light.

He also just wrote one that I'm reading now that I hope to have a review on soon. Its called Warlord Dervish it is really good and a big body count in it. So check out Tony Monchinski stuff.

If you get Tooth and Nail you might also want to check out The Infection also by DiLouie. The sequel to that "The Killing Floor" comes out in May.

If you are on FaceBook join Kindle Authors you get a lot of free books and most are not in the topic of what you are looking for but I have picked up a couple that might be. I have been downloading free books for three days now and I would say I have over 100 books now. I read anything and everything and if its free well heck yeah I'm going to give it a try.

Go to Kindle books and go to free and search what you are looking for and you will find free ones.

There is really nothing that I dont like about it. I have the older "gen 2". I never take it outside to read so I cant comment on that question

My Gen2 developed a large LCD-shatterfuck on it.... so I sent it back and they replaced with a(n) (obvious refurb) Gen3 - still with keyboard though - for $40. While I'm pretty sure it's got internal issues (hence the refurb, hence ONLY being $40), it's still great. It's a little smaller than my Gen2 which I don't care either way about either size - they both work - but the thing I do NOT like about the Gen3 is that there are NO NUMBERS on the goddam keyboard. You've got to use the "symbol" button to get to them. Annoying. Especially annoying when you're trying to jump to a "location" within the book.

Outside reading? It's fine. It's better than actual paper in direct sunlight, because the glare isn't there. The $79.... I'd skip it and spend a few bucks more to get one without the ads, but that's me. I love my Kindle, and will own another when it's time.

Biggest complaints? Well, storage and how they manage it. The next generation straight NEEDS to have a micro SD slot like every other mobile device worth a broke dick or more. Their usual response is "Well, Amazon is HAPPY to manage your digital media and you can unarchive and download it at will....." FUCK that and FUCK YOU, Amazon. I prefer having all my digital files WITH me. Other than that.... LOVE my Kindle, I really do. At least the Gen3 refurb had about double the memory of my Gen2, if I remember correctly...

Sorry for a WAY late response, but I just saw this... and I'm even more sorry to say "I'm not sure."

The FIRST gen's had an actual SD slot, which I'm EXTREMELY pissed they removed. They're purposely NOT including one (most likely ever again, from what I've read) because they want you using their whispernet/cloud-type bullshit forever. I like my OWN storage of my OWN shit, thank you very much! The second gen's were an off-white/beige (at least mine was), much larger that the current versions, and here's the kicker - the keyboard actually had NUMBERS on it. I noticed when wanting to search for something specific on my replacement Kindle (3rd gen) that the numbers were indeed gone, and I had to hit the stupid fucking Sym button first. Grrr.

From there it should be pretty easy. The most current ones are even smaller, many just have touch-screens, and I'm sure there's gotta be a way to tell from just looking at the Kindle itself and comparing to pics online. I don't want a touchscreen myself, honestly - I like having ACTUAL buttons... I have a tablet for touchscreen needs, and I don't feel the need to be as "gentle" with a non-touch item than I would otherwise.

ETA: To my rant earlier, HELL, I'd even like a MICRO-SD slot... in fact, that'd make the most sense. How hard is that, really? C'mon Amazon, quit fucking with us.

That kindle-author FB page and website looks pretty good!

There's a trilogy on there now, still free at Amazon, called Life After War. Appears to be a post-nuclear war survival type deal. Again, free so it's headed to my Kindle Touch right now.

77 Days in September was a pretty good Kindle read. It's about EMP hitting, but the guy is stuck 1,500 mi from home and it's mostly about the journey he takes and the people he meets on the way. I thought it was pretty entertaining.
