Romney needs to lose, and I don't want him to be supplanted by Gingrich. Santorum's really all that's left that can at least make this a brokered convention if not block Romney outright, so I'm hoping he wins enough delegates tonight to keep on those tracks.

Ive been supporting Rick since before the first caucus. I do wish he would temper his language. Don't want him to change his views, just not hand the left too much fodder.

It is definitely a good night for Rick.

Well Santorum needs to take Ohio but it looks like Romney will win unless a miracle happens.

No he doesn't need to take it, these contests are proportional. You can take second and essentially walk away with one less delegate than the winner if the race is close enough.

I am an active what you call "Mormon" and I am praying that Romney loses.

I think Santorum stands for his values; I can't seem to trust Romney. Romney would crack under pressure from the left.

Certainly a good night for Santorum and his social programs...

I thought his campaign was over when he voiced his total-support for Obama's big-government bailout of Detroit when he was going on to lose Michigan.

Wow. I honestly did not suspect that there was this much overwhelming support for major social progams in the Republican party... Certainly a big night for Santorum, and his big-government agenda...

Hope he does not give us another one of his Lautenberg Bans if he goes on to win...

It didn't take much pressure for Santorum to vote to *increase* medicare and medicaid to unsupportable levels.

It didn't take much pressure for Santorum to support and vote for the *nationwide* Lautenberg Gun ban.

*Nothing* I repeat -nothing- Santorum has done in Washington for over 20 years "inside-the-beltway" can compare to Romney's success in the free-market.

And don't forget... Santorum has made-clear that he supported Obama's Detroit big-government bailout, and contrasted his support for Obama against Romney's disdain for the bailout for votes in Michigan.

Santorum might try to make himself look like the fourth member of the trinity, but he is absolutely *not* a fiscal conservative. Not in a million years.

Tragic to see Republicans supporting Romney at this point. It's funny looking at your posts seeing you criticize Santorum for being for big government (the majority, but not all, are fair or properly represented criticisms) despite Romney being no better in this regard. Romney is a big government guy and is not conservative. Of course, you are to Romney what Paulbots are to Ron Paul, so I don't intend to get into it that much.

Polls seem to indicate that Santorum does not fare as badly as portrayed. If Romney wins, we are basically stuck with deciding which of two Leftists we prefer.

Romney is a venture capitalist. Obama is - at best - a socialist and at worst a Marxist.

While Romney isn't a social conservative, the popular suggestion on this site that there is no difference between them is absurd.

His views are those of a temperamentally conservative progressive, and progressivism is the exclusive domain of the Left. He is essentially a Centre-Left person.

I'm glad your vote won't count anyway. Romney is not a leftists, and Santorum doesn't know what a leftist is. Or a right winger for that matter. He's a fucking moron who'll say anything. His record is utterly undistinguished. He's never accomplished a damn thing. He's the John Edwards of the Republican party. At least Edwards made a few bucks as a successful attorney. Santorum has never done a fucking thing in his whole life.

Saying they are both on the same side of the political spectrum, albeit to different degrees, is not the same as saying there is no difference between them. Both, however, are bad for America. Unfortunately, it seems like we will be stuck with the bad as far as POTUS is concerned, one way or another.

From a fiscal standpoint, Romney is about as far from Obama as one can get. A venture capitalist is the antithesis of a Marxist.

From a social standpoint, Romney is not as far to the right as Santorum, but he is hardly as far to the left as Obama.

Santorum isn't mentally competent to be county dog catcher. Pandering to the evangelicals while supporting business-as-usual in DC might get you 51% of Republicans in the marginally literate South but it will get you a drubbing in the general election.

Do you think Romney does? Remember, pick up worthless "moderates" or "independents" and lose a significant portion of your base doesn't spell success. The base, quite contrary to what you guys seem to think, ain't gonna coalesce around Romney. Period.
