Buds sold 5 times the guns in Feb '12 compaired to Feb '09!!!!!!!!!!!!

Buds sent this in a email.

This notice is being sent to all customers who recently placed an order with www.budsgunshop.com and may not necessarily apply to your order.

If you are not already aware of what is going on in the firearms industry, there is no doubt you soon will be via the media. Our sales in the month of February were over FIVE TIMES what they were back in February 2009 following the last presidential election...and you may recall those were some pretty crazy times ! We did plan for 2012 to be another challenging election year....but we admittedly did not plan for this level of volume, and definitely not this early in the year !
Although your order may not have experienced a delay, we would like to apologize to anyone who has, or is currently, experiencing a delay in shipping. Our order volume unexpectedly skyrocketed in February, far beyond our capacity to process and ship. We immediately began the process of expanding our facilities, adding additional staff, and working extended hours...but those efforts are just now starting to pay off.

The good news is that we are starting to get back on top of things. We are currently shipping out more orders each day that what we are taking in, so it is now just a matter of clearing the backlog that was created in February. Since Monday we have been able to ship out 300 more guns than what we sold during that same time....so the backlog should be cleared shortly at this rate. We are shipping oldest orders first (first in - first out) so clearing this backlog will cause some newer orders to ship closer to the "7" in our advertised "3 to 7 business days" terms. Many repeat customers were so use to us shipping in 3 days they started to get concerned when their order had not shipped in 5 days...even though we were well within our "3 to 7 business days" terms. Also, "business days" refers to Monday-Friday only, as neither UPS or USPS pick up packages at our warehouse on weekends.

We sincerely apologize if you experienced a delay and assure you we are continuing to do everything we possibly can to prevent future delays. We have also suspended all cancellation fees for any delayed orders. If you order has been delayed, and you prefer to cancel your order at this time....we will be glad to accommodate that request with absolutely no fees....we need more guns anyway !

We appreciate the business and commit to do a better job next time if given the opportunity.

Kind Regards,

Team Buds

I heard about this earlier today (INRE: nationwide gun sales).

Is there a new panic on that I missed?

I hesitate to be overly optimistic, but the gun-grabbers haven't had many victories lately. I really think that the mini-panic isn't justified, although it's always good to support gun manufacturers and retailers.

It's not just the election that will make this year go down in the record books for most annual guns sales.

True...but my concern (in general) with the idea of Obama getting re elected is that he will no longer have to worry about choosing policy based on his desire to get another term.

I think a lot of people are just concerned about the state of things in general.

And, guns/ammo seem to be one thing that has held its value over the past 5 or so years. I'm not paying less for guns now than I was in 05/06, that's for sure.

Since the 2008 election I've acquired my entire arsenal and my father has increased his. At this point all I really need is a few thousand rounds more. No panic buying for me is time.

But I have been assured by the experts on arfcom that it's due to income tax spending.

Good point! There were not income tax refunds in 2009.

Bud's should be a good yard stick for what is happening at every gun retailer, nationwide. I would not call numbers like that a mini-panic. Whether justified or not, it's happening, for real.

My little local shop has sold all his popular handguns and his distributors can only get him one or two of whatever they'll 'ration' when he tries for inventory. Ammo and mags are way up as-well.

So why aren't people spending their income tax returns on ipads? or on lift kits for their trucks?

There certainly has been a large increase in gun sales since 2005 and there seems to be an increase every year.

He means the end of the Mayan calendar in December.

The only people who panic are those who are ill prepared.

In the month of December 2011, my dealer sold more than 350 guns, most during the week leading up to Christmas. That's amazing given his shop's size.

His business has been up significantly as we approach November, too.

tax return time usually is the busiest part of the year in the industry but this year is absolutely nuts. Most distributors are already out of ARs and manufacturers are not keeping up but prices haven't gone to panic levels yet as far as I can tell.

I am so happy that I panicked early this time! Who cares for the reason, the fact is more and more people are arming themselves with serious firepower. Joe and Jane sixpack are looking in the closet and seeing Grandpa's old shotgun and saying " this just isn't going to cut it" and going out in force. Obama, Mayans, Europe falling apart financially, Racial tensions, A shit economy that even the most optimistic person is seeing as going nowhere but down, Zombies, the list is endless.

If you really plan on filling out your collection, better get on it soon, as stock is leaving the shelves at a crazy rate.

And ammo, and mags, and parts....the sky is falling again and people are out buying in full panic mode.

I have had 3 physician friends ask me to help them build ARs recently. They are all fud gun owners that felt compelled to buy ARs.

Obummer is quite possibly the greatest gun and ammo salesman in history.

Good, everyone panic. It means that there will be a surplus of used guns hitting the market soon after the election...at greatly reduced prices. I would love to see $500 AR's.

A quick review of our category for semi-automatic rifles in .223 caliber shows that we currently have 45 variants of those rifles in stock. That's all types and all manufacturers, just semi-auto .223/5.56 guns. We currently list 264 variants as out of stock. After a certain period of time, out of stock items "drop off" of the website entirely through an automated process. I don't know how many rifles in this category have dropped off entirely. But 45 / 265 gives us just 17% of the .223 semi auto rifles still listed on our site currently in stock.

Starting on Black Friday last year we saw gun sales spike and thought "Hey, we had a good Black Friday this year, woohoo!" Then we lowered our prices on long guns for a Christmas push and thought "Hey, we had a good Christmas this year, woohoo!" Then in January sales continued at the same pace and we thought, "Hey, wait a minute, this hasn't happened before." Then February hit, and now March, and we are firmly into "Oh crap, we're selling guns faster than they can be built, what happens next?" territory.

We are also seeing very high sales on ammo and survival gear. Gas mask sales in particular are mind boggling to me.

I thought about posting up a thread about this myself, but all things considered I reckoned it would be best if arfcom didn't hear about it from us first. There are still plenty of guns for sale and we are getting in more all the time. But the really cool ones are going quick and staying backordered for extended periods of time. If you see a good deal on something you like, jump on it. And I mean that in general–– from your local brick and mortar store, from us, from the EE, from whoever. This is an industry wide phenomenon we are seeing here.

I received the Bud's email yesterday.

We could discuss the reasons for this unprecedented buying of firearms and related items like ammo for hours, of course.

Basically, I believe that it boils down to the fact that people know, even if they don't want to admit it, that Barry Soetoro will win a second term and they fear what that implies. I believe these fears are well founded. I expect him to come after gun ownership and personal rights with the gloves off in his second term. Hell, just look what he tried to pull during his first term with that bogus gun shipping to Mexico (Project Gunrunner). Of course, that backfired because there still are some good and decent people in FBI/DHS/BATFE. BUT, they may not be able to stop the next hairbrained scheme that Holder dreams up.

I do notice that many people seem to have a sense of uneasiness and foreboding that really can't be defined but is there. Factor in the mideast situation, the state of the economy and, restated, a second term for a marxist/socialist president, and you can see the basis for this uneasiness. In addition, this 2012 end of the world stuff that is being discussed does not help either.

Well, at least those buying firearms are helping keep some Americans employed at the various gun plants and ammo plants.
