Whos all getting the new Ghost Recon Future Soldier?
As long as it doesn't get shitty reviews, I am. Anyone else?
No one???
I don't play video games.

I will be getting it. Had the demo it wasnt horrible but it wasnt my beloved GRAW. If you havent played it go get gears of war and play that to get ready. The movement is very GoW.

It's GD where you can post about anything. However, if you want your thread in the video game forum, I'll move it there. Let me know.
I will be getting it

I'm not, it looks retarded. If it comes out and the reviews are out of the park then I could change my mind, but every other Ghost Recon game in recent memory has sucked, and all the futuristic robotic crap doesn't interest me at all.
I will probably get it. But I don't like 3rd person shooters at all. The aiming and movement sucks.
I wish they would make it FPS. I got SOCOM 4 and it could have been so much better had it not been 3rd person.
Does anyone like that 3rd person crap or do they just keep making them because people buy them?
Fuck no
Looks like a waste of time.

My favorite is 3rd person.
SOCOM 4 is garbage in my opinion. They sold out with COD shit. I mean, "SOCOM Navy Seals" and you play as U.N. Peacekeepers
The last game online military shooter that I really enjoyed and still enjoy to this day is SOCOM Confrontation. They launched that game no doubt way before it was done but about 8 months later after the release, they ironed the game out and it turned out really well. Too bad for them it was too late from a business perspective but I still play SOCOM Confrontation as it is really fun and fairly realistic.
not planning on it, just gonna wait for the next BF3 map pack.

This

Got it today. Been playing it a bit too much haha. Really really awesome game. The only complaint I have are the visuals are inconsistent. Sometimes they look greats. Other times not so great. The explosions and face movement are weak. Also things like your character pulling out a gun he isn't even equipped with is inexcusable.
Those small complaints aside, the game is outstanding. Everything is well done, with multiplayer mode "Decoy" being the best part of the game. The guns handle realistically and are well done.
Game has a campaign that can be played with up to 3 friends online or alone, a wave of enemies mode that can be played with 4 friends online, 2 friends locally, or a mix. Lastly the game features online multiplayer with 3 or 4 different modes.
I highly suggest it. Best way of describing the multiplayer is that it is strategic and you need to communicate to win. If you played the old SOCOMs or Ghost Recons and liked them, you will like this.

Hmm... might pick it up once the initial price comes down. I like when I can campaign mode games with my brother who is stuck half a country away.
I'll let it go for a while, see what the general consensus is. then maybe
I never buy games the first week theyre out anymore
I just rented it to see how the full game is going to be before dropping 65 bucks on it
I will be renting it. The only upcoming game that I am definately buying is Borderlands 2.
Well, I had pre-ordered it and played the Beta. Came yesterday, 50 bucks is probably worth it. I am not the kind of guy who buys games on release day, but especially after playing the Multiplayer beta, this was a no brainer.
I'm a wee bit surprised that Arf isn't more into this game. It's been described as a 'thinking man's shooter', which I think is fairly accurate. Definitely a step away from the twitchy bullshit that is Modern Warfare or BF3.
I think it's definitely worth buying, maybe even worth paying 60 bucks for. This may only be true for me because I talked 5 friends into buying it with me, so playing the Campaign and MP with them should definitely be more rewarding. Communication & Coordination is definitely the key for winning at the multiplayer. Lone wolves die pretty quickly and often, and end up at the bottom of the scoreboard.
So I got 3 of my friends together and we ran through the first 2 missions of the campaign.
This was my face:

It's quite clear this is how it was meant to be played. Communication, syncing up our shots over the mike, team support, oh man. It was awesome.
The "Adversarial" multiplayer is really great too. If you're not really great at the COD-Clones, this might be a good alternative for you, as there's some fantastic "not really combat" roles for the engineer, and being a sniper is really rewarding if you can pull it off, but it's not like you can dominate an entire map like you sometimes can in, say, Battlefield3.
I say as soon as it hits 50 bucks, AND you're a fan of squad based combat, talk some of your friends into buying it, I don't think you'll regret it.
The only issues I had were with the civilian kill/stealth detection Instafails. (In the campaign) A squadmate went a bit trigger happy and took out some civilians...BAM, we're back at a loading screen for the last checkpoint. :( But, I guess I can't really complain.
Seen some vids, read some reviews and it seems to be a solid game. I had considered buying this even though the whole squad based thing isn't my cup of tea, lack of patience on my part as I don't play for hours on end. Will likely rent this from Redbox today and see if it's worth it.
operator as fuck
Another thing I love about this game actually has nothing to do with the xbox at all.
It's the ghost recon network. Statistical analysis, check. Checking on my friends? Check.
3-D exploded-view "gunsmithing" of my in-game weapons?
HOLY CRAP CHECK.
I sideloaded the mobile app to my kindle fire and holy geez. I found that there wasn't really a lot of time to mess with your Multiplayer weapon configuration in between matches, but the app (or the web-app, same functionality) allows me to edit my gun configurations at lunch...and then upload it to the game. I configure my gun the way I like it while eating a sammich, then it's ready for me when I get off work. If you are a gun nerd, the Gunsmith functionality of Ghost Recon is damn near worth the price of admission. This ought to be the default system for military shooters from now on, BECAUSE IT IS AWESOME.
You can download it for your iphone or android phone, for $Free to check it out, but I think you might have to sign up for some shit (still free though) to get it on your browser.
But seriously, if this game appeals to you at all, you should at least check out the gunsmith functionality, because it's cool as all hell, and seems to be, you know, actually half realistic. Putting a muzzle brake on your gun decreases recoil but increases muzzle flash. Putting a suppressor on your gun decreases range and power (because of sub-sonic ammunition, according to the display) but eliminates muzzle flash and sound signature. A folding stock increases maneuverability, but decreases accuracy.
You can literally spend hours tweaking your gun, uh, just like we do in real life only cheaper.

I know I'm swinging on this game's balls but Red Storm has done a knock-up job on the multiplayer components of this title, and it's the first game that actually convinced me to 'get social' with it, rather than just log onto a match, Do Some Work, then go have a beer. Even when I'm losing, I am having fun. This is kind of a big deal.
(edit: I also wouldn't be surprised if some Red Storm employees were arfcommers. The Gun Nerdery in this game is at such a level that honestly I'd be more surprised if one or two devs weren't. Check this out:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wI4_CpMe0S0 Now, think about the job those guys have: "I shoot guns for a living to make sure that video games are more realistic." Seriously, where do I submit my resume?)
Got it only beacuse I had a $50 gift card to Dell. Ill let you know what my kids think later.
I traded a few games in and grabbed it at Best Buy the day it came out. Having trouble adapting to it after playing BF3 and Black Ops as my main shooters for so long. If you run and gun or try to lone-wolf it, you are _fucked_. You move and turn too slowly to cover your own ass, and your gun is too inaccurate on the move. There's a reason there's a "sprint from cover to cover" button. Make heavy use of it. Always use your irons unless you're practically licking the guy already.
Multiplayer is cool, but it seems like my team mates are having trouble adapting, too, because they're spending eighty percent of their time faffing about around the map instead of CAPPING THE FUCKING OBJECTIVE, so every game I've played so far has heavily featured me getting shot in the spine while capping a point while my team has a circle jerk halfway across the map.
I have absolutely no idea what the D-pad does in the gunsmith thing.
The secondary objectives in the campaign are not always clear. For one thing, there is no "magnetic view" as far as the HUD is concerned, it's the X-ray view. It's not always obvious WHERE a secondary objective has to be completed (try deliberately fucking it up, see if it gets exed out on your tac map. If not, proceed). The game seems to delight in autosaving right after you fuck up a secondary obj (that was bullshit, that guy only 'saw me' as my bullet was hitting him in the BRAIN).
I think the combat sounds pretty great: gunfire is LOUD.
The speech of your NPC comrades is fucking worthless. "Enemy with an assault rifle, 3 o'clock" Uh.. whose three o'clock? How far away is he? What's he near? The NPCs are fucking worthless except at shooting things. They get hung up and stuck constantly because they're fucking retarded, they lose their fucking minds and start spraying bullets the instant an enemy coughs at them (I wish I could strap suppressors to all of THEIR guns, the jackasses).
There are too many cutscenes and the levels take too long to load, which can make redoing a difficult secondary objective a real motherfucker.
Why did they get the worst cover of "I Shot the Sheriff" in history? Either pay for the real thing or pay some idiot to write a song for you.
I'm only like three missions in, but so far the campaign seems pretty stupid. I mean, it's not much stupider than GRAW 2 (hey. Hey you, hey, Colonel. Yeah. We're going to drop you and only you out of this blackhawk in the middle of the desert. Now go kill that entire company of mexican soldiers. Alright later), but it's still pretty dumb. I'm a coward and an idiot and a fat lard so I'll never be in the military, but I gotta figure that when they're breaking shit and hurting people "in country", I'd think that special forces operators get serious, instead of smarming off on the radio constantly. Just shut the hell up and try not to get your whole body stuck in the level geometry, Pepper.
Doing anything in the character menus regarding loadout and level progression is a huge pain in the ass and takes way too long. Way too many menus, way too much loading. Why does my Russian guy level differently from my American guy? That's stupid.
Why is Kozak's pistol yellow?
STAB THAT GUY. Melee kills are pretty satisfying, but they're janky as fuck in multiplayer.
The game is waaaay too reluctant to migrate hosts. Leaving a multiplayer game requires you to go into a SUBMENU, which is unacceptable.
On the balance, I'm having fun with it so far. Already registered [EQD]EquestriaDaily as a squad because THERE'S SOMETHING WRONG WITH THE DOSAGE OF MY BRAIN MEDICINE. I just need some friends to play with.
ETA: Regarding the multiplayer, so far I've only been playing as a rifleman, and only with an assault rifle, which may affect my judgment regarding what tactics are best. Point being, I can only reliably hit people with the thing when I've got my irons up.
ETA2: The invisicamo is cool as shit in multiplayer, and is pretty cool in the campaign. It's really irritating that there's no good way to tell besides that stupid glowy arrow whether an enemy's noticed you, or from how far away he can do so, unlike, say, Thief or Splinter Cell, where guys will actually look at you and make suspicious noises.
My beef is that shit is limited to each class. The only defense to the stupid ass sensor grenades are the EMP grenades that counter them. Which only the snipers have. I don't want to run around with a sniper and sit in the corner. The hosting in GRAW 1 & 2 was the model all other hosting should be made after. Host can take all the stupid sit off choose what map everyone wants to play.
How are you guys seeing your stats?

Found it. For any one else that needs it.
Ghost network

There isn't one. I think that Red Storm really wanted everything to be objective based. So the closest you're gonna get is the one "hardcore" mode, where there's no respawns. I think Siege?
I really think if you're looking for COD-style gameplay, you're just not going to find it here.

No I'm not looking for COD. Im looking for Ghost Recon style play. I started out with GRAW 1 then Graw 2. Both had death match. Both had hosting the way it should be. Fully customize able, choose what map the group wants to play. Large maps. Everyone has access to the same weapons. Able to turn off the stupid maps and sensor crap, kill cams.

GRAW2 had server customization on XBox? I didn't play it *that* much online.
I know there is the ability to do custom matches, but I'm not sure if you can get that far in.

3rd person games are a very small nitch in the market, one that SOCOM used to have absolutely cornered until they betrayed us by sharting out the SOCOM 4 abomination (worst video game I've ever played).
I hate 1st person games.
I bought the latest Ghost Recon because SOCOM is dead. Verdict is still out.
my computer can handle it, and for PC it looks like it gets released next month.
I'm not a 3rd person shooter fan, not at all, but I did order this off Amazon. I had a credit from one of their fuckups in shipping, so what the hell.

Yes you could limit weapons, time of day, HUD, and host got to choose the maps.
Glad I rented first, it's serviceable but not a buy at $60 at midnight game.
Servers down. :(
I do not understand this. If the multiplayer is peer to peer hosts, wtf are the ubisoft servers even doing?
ugh...the PC version got pushed back to the end of june.
I'm stuck on the stupid Firefly Rain mission. I cannot get past the sentrys at the hanger door.

Swing wiiiiide right to the far right end of the hangar door. once you're in the hangar, you can literally dash to the back wall of the hangar, then dash across to the steps without being spotted. Just stick to the hangar wall and crawl and they'll never see you.

Is this on Xbox? That's what I'm playing it on.
Hate TPS'ers. Horrible.
