No. Iron Maiden were pioneers that never changed their style to suit the masses and thus looked dated quickly. The one thing they NEVER were was hair metal. Motley Crue was hair metal, Maiden has talent and musical skill.

Di'Anno era Maiden is really something. I love Killers. I also really enjoy Piece of Mind and Powerslave but something about Killers is a little more "dangerous" and authentic, not quite as pretentious as the Dickinson era. Now, you have to love a little pretension if you're going to do the Maiden thing at all but that's a given. Of course, the post-Dickinson era doesn't exist. Blaze who? Nonsense.

ETA: I want to point out that I was wearing a Maiden pin on my denim jacket in 1984 and also that anyone who's lumping NWOBH bands in with hair metal just wasn't there. Even Def Leppard was seen as legit back then in the pre-Poison era. Naturally, High'n'Dry was so much better than Pyromania. Fucking sellouts.

Big Maiden fan here. But Rob Halford has far more range than Bruce.

My first concert was Maiden and Anthrax in 1990. I have seen them three times total and every show was just flat out awesome. It's not for everyone thats for sure. I embrace the theatrics and cheese in all its metal glory. Some thing about Maiden I never get tired of.
I think I have listened to Flight of Icarus while working out a thousand times.
Fucking motivating ass kicking track if there ever was one.
