Want to know what kind of people are on this site?

So in a thread I mention that I picked up a S&W model 22. I get an IM from a member that has some spare parts but no pistol. bullofspadez then sends me the parts, wants no payment for anything including postage. That's a rare guy that will do that in this day an age. That's pretty damn cool.

For the most part, the folks I've met in the gun community are good people. Sure there are a few bad apples here and there but probably less so than other circles.

Bunch a basement dwelling, printer repairing, spongebob watching motherf#$kers if you ask me. ;)

Sir, I will have you know that I have never successfully repaired a printer in my life, and I resent the accusation.

There's a reason this, and a sports talk board are the only ones I visit.

This site has some of the most helpful, knowledgeable and generous people I have ever encountered. It also has some of the biggest douchebags in the country, but they are a vocal minority.

Seriously, a relative of mine has some real troubles this winter, and dozens of these guys went way out of their way to help him out.

Those of you who know what I am talking about will appreciate this.


Lydia is starting to get mobile, she is starting to talk, and is slowly regaining her eye sight . Amanda is nearly back to her old self, still grieving, but dealing with it pretty well. PV2 Thomas Williams is back in Basic Training (they decided that after four months it was best for him to recycle to the beginning), and about to graduate.

If you aren't familiar with the story, take my word that it is a sad one, and that the members of this site made a world of difference to three young people they never met.

ETA: Let me take this opportunity to thank everybody on this site for what you guys did, from advice on dealing with the hospital, the military and everything else.

I crashed my mountain bike and cockroach did a C-arm for free. (C-arm is like an X-ray) It was not broken.

I've sent money to someone who used to post here and died last year.

It was a collection for the family who survived. I never even heard back from them....I always wondered if they even got it.

You forgot about all the damn inkies.

While I rarely get out to shoot these days, and I disagree with some of the politics on here, I still hang around.

That's a good man. I've done the same with AK & FAL parts on another forum. I haven't been here long enough and i'm going through hard times but i imagine if someone needs something i have and i can pay the shipping they'll get it free one day.

Was having a hard time finding a J arm for a PVS14 at a decent price. A member sent me one for free, he even balked at me reimbursing shipping. Lots of good people on here.

Over the years I've had countless folks come out of the woodwork and offer me spare parts when I needed them, have received gift memberships...more random acts of kindness than I even recall honestly.

One thing that will always stand out...last year after a hurricane come through and did some damage to the area, the power was out all over the place, in some cases for weeks. I member here (who lives in my area) that I had only ever talked to a few times made sure to call me and see if my family needed any help with anything. Meanwhile, he was without power himself, dealing with an equal amount of stuff on his end. That was a stand-up thing to do, and those are the kind of folks that I meet at this site year after year.

And for what it's worth, many of the folks who step up and do these things are not the popular members with tens of thousands of posts.....often they are the casual member whose screen names most of the 'elite' crowd here wouldn't ever recognize.

I've called this place home for over a decade and hope to enjoy this site long into the future

It was awhile ago, I wish I could remember his screen name, but he was really nice about it.
