What do you use to cover "scuffs" in your lower??
Just assembled a lower reciever....unfortunately my hands were not as steady as they should have been....got some minor scuffs in the finish....is there something I can use to cover up the blemishes??
You got that combat look without involving the driveway!
Those are well earned character marks.
Get out and do some training with it and you'll forget all about the first scuffs.
Gouges, generally.
If my lower is scuffed up, I call that a good night.
My Y chromosome
You should see my beat to shit Noveske

Scuffs/Scrapes piss me off on a build. Then I found Duracoat and Alumihyde II

Man made scuffs, not use or wear. My Colt 1991 is next to get some Duracoat, though it has gotten quite worn looking, Im ok with that. When I do builds, I put masking tape around holes that I have to use a punch or something similar on.
I don't cover them with anything, It's a gun and it's going to get some wear marks like it supposed to. Man up

I was going to recommend maning up and just tossing it down the driveway.

I'm with Rob –– throw it down the driveway and those scuffs will be well camoflaged

Alumablack or Sharpie... nothing really works well
Invest a dollar in a roll of scotch tape for your next build

This.
Dust
I don't worry about the little scuffs.
I don't.
AR is a working rifle for me, not a pretty cream puff.
Shit gets scratched. Not like I'm going to throw my gun down the driveway, but I'm not going to get all frowny faced because I scratched a lower putting it together when it's going to get scratched in the course of use.

I dont bother with it. If I really want to cover up a mark I would just spray the whole rifle camo.
I cover them with my manly hands.
MY MONSTROUS, DICK BEATIN' PAWS!!!!
I cover up the old scuffs with....
...fresh scuffs
and scratches
They get covered when I put it back in the case after a day at the range.
Black paint pen, but generally I just leave them.

Aluminum cold bluing seems trickier and not as easy as cold bluing steel.
Sharpie just wipes off the first time you clean the gun.
Leave it be.
Nothing. You remember to put tape around where the roll pins go in next time.

just throw it down the driveway to give it that battle used look...
seriously though, it's not a safe queen and i actually use it for 3gun so it gets scratched and scuffed anyway....

I've been doing this for years.
Also works great on pin on rank insigna!
Put some bigger scratches on there, then the little ones you just made will seem insignificant. It's a gun, not something to be put under glass.
Mud.
