Budget priced .22 rifle request

I have a friend who is in the market for a budget priced .22 rifle, somewhere around 150.00. I suggested a 10/22, but yea, a bit more than 150ish. So what would you guys suggest? I may still try to talk him into the 10/22, but if I can't?

You should be able to find a Marlin Model 60, or a Remington 597 in that price range new, and lots of options in that price range if used is OK.

Shop around for a deal on a 10/22, if you cant find one go the marlin 60 route.

Once you show him the new take down version of the 10-22 you will have him sold and if not the Marlin 60 or look at used I found a very cool old Marlin Lever action tube fed 22 Mag for $160 in like new condition but built before serial numbers.

Marlin model 60 is the better rifle anyway,and cheaper. I have to stop myself from buying every damn one I see.

It is the most accurate of the inexpensive .22 semi-autos out of the box, too. It doesn't need $1000 worth of stuff thrown at it to make it accurate like a 10/22.

The lowest cost Savage bolt action rifle. Those guns are amazing with a little adjustment of the screw torque and Wolf or SK ammon.

Marlin Model 60 is a low cost, .22 lr rifle, very accurate right out of the box, no modifications necessary unless you want a scope. Best bang for the buck for a .22lr rifle IMO.

I would love to know where all these $150 used 10/22's are. Can't find one around here for less than $200, if you can find them.

You can get them new for $200 at walmart or Dicks around here. I dont see many used ones, I would look on gunbroker and see what they have.

I think if I planned to keep the rifle stock I would just go this way. I have a marlin 60 and it is a great shooting rifle. I dont shoot it much but everything I have tried in it has been accurate and reliable.

Mine hasn't jammed in probably over 3k rounds, it's damn accurate too.

I found a SS Marlin 60 at a pawn shop for $100 OTD. Needless to say, it followed me home.
