Well my wife is 40 and she has officially been told she is going through menopause.

How long will this last?? they gave her some Med's for her internals and for her Jekyll and Hyde syndrome.

Any advice will be greatly appreciated

Just keep in mind that it isn't about you and that it is at least as difficult for her as it is for you.

Try to be sympathetic even when she is being a roaring pain in the ass. It's hormones which she can't control.

(And I ain't a lady, but I have lived with them for the last 50 years.)

My wife is 42. You have my wholehearted sympathy.
That's all I'm gonna say.

Thanks
It not so bad for me as I have dealt with much worse, I was just curious how many years this will last?

Things are still good, she just gets really moody and really loving.

Problem is its never at the same time, just trying to get a idea of whats ahead.

Did they say it's perimenopause? More common around 40 and could last ten years....yeah, sorry....I'm going into it too (I'm 39). I noticed small changes starting around age 37, turning the air down more, more emotional at certain times of the month. Usually I can recognize it and catch myself but sometimes you just gotta let it go .... If it's full blown menopause could take a few months up to a couple of years to complete.
My sister is 50 so she's been preparing me and helping me understand, genetics plays a part and I know she went through it (still going through the final stages) about the same time our mom did.

Be patient, loving and try to understand, it's got to be hard to be on the receiving end of most of it but try. I've told people to please tell me when they notice I'm crazier than usual but not everyone may like that so tread carefully.

Good luck.

My wife was helped greatly with that soy estrogen stuff called Estroven. It's over-the-counter at Walmart in a green box. We called them her "crazy pills." They do help––a lot.

Buddy, I feel for you. Seriously, I don't normally give men hugs, but if you're not far from Jax just let me know and I'll be right over. I found that beer really helped me get through her difficult transition.

In all seriousness it wasn't the worst, there were some mood swings but nothing that resulted in an injury. However, the hot flashes did lead to her taking over the thermostat. All in all it lasted about 18 months and my wife didn't take any medication during that time.

My wife's sex drive droped dramatically during and after menopause. The drop in estrogen made "relations" less than enjoyable due to some physical changes, namely thinning of the vaginal walls, a general aversion to being touched, and her desire diminshed. However, she did go on a medication called Vagifem which is speficially made for this problem and the drive, desire, and enjoyment has improved dramatically, in fact I think it's better than her premenopause days. So that's something that you'll want to keep in mind.

Lastly, find a hobby that gets you away from the house and her from time to time. My wife wasn't as bad as some story's I've heard, however there were times when seperation was good for the both of us and it allowed me to maintain a level head.

Thanks Brother,
She is on Vagifem now(1 week) and is doing ok.

I guess I have been spoiled as we had sex 4-6 times a week for the last 13 years, now she has zero interest and this has been going on 3 months.

We are down to around 1-2 times a week, and she really is just doing it for me,hopefully things get better.

She is not a mean old lady by any means, but her attitude has defiantly went downhill.

Oh well things will get better, for better or worse I will take care of my girl.
