Hello gals! New chick here!
I started a thread yesterday in the SF and multiple folks told me I had to come check you out!
I'm a single 40ish chick, live in NE IL (suburban Chicago). I'm a cube dweller on the job, very active in my church. I'm just getting into all this stuff. I had an interest in disaster preparedness and went from there.
There were several other gals who were jumping with joy over the appearance of another female yesterday.
I'm amazed at how friendly the people here are!
My siggy should be "A man who comes between a woman and her chocolate is asking for trouble."

Welcome! NW suburbs here!

GF is one of those people I mentioned were in your area and shoots. I got a chance to shoot with her last year.

Welcome to the forum.

Welcome! Lots of info to read through and plenty of entertainment

Yes, and I would be happy to go shooting with you sometime. There aren't too many women who enjoy shooting in our area; but luckily, I have a few friends who do. We'd love to have one more join us, if you're ever interested.
Welcome!
*not a girl, but my GF is a member here.
That reminds me, I need to get her to make a thread in here so she can meet all the ladies.

Excellent! Just sent off for my FOID card (I think I remember reading you've got to have one before you even shoot at all at a range?). Anyway, my schedule's crazy until the end of the year, but after that...

Everyone likes to shoot at reactive targets––just be careful with steel as it's common to have bullet fragments come back and hit the shooter or bystanders.
I like stuff like water jugs, water balloons, clay pigeons, etc. I've become much more risk-averse after seeing "bad stuff" happen on several occasions, including a chunk of bullet jacket imbedded in my lower lip.
Have you tried Tannerite yet??
Edit to add: Eye and ear protection can't be emphasized enough either. Most of us have grown really fond of hearing and seeing.

I am so happy to see so many women getting into shooting and meeting others that have the same hobby. There are a lot of women out there that don't have a clue and frown about it. Luckily in Alabama we don't have that problem. I carry everywhere I go including to the Crop (paper crafting/scrapbooking) I host every month. You can never be too careful. Way to go for us Gals if you know what I mean. We have come a long way, and we are here to stay.

Welcome Marie! I added the part in blue to cover my wifes addiction.

Welcome.
ya i dont shoot the AR with the steel target just with my 22. i forgot to mention that. we tried it once and the bullet went almost through the target so never again. and of course we always shoot safely and wear the proper gear. baloons are my favorite especially when shooting further out its easier to see. tanerite is so much fun! we filled up a tube and shot it one day-ill have to see if i can find the pics. boy do i love the constant ping and that steel target moving with the 22 though-im quite good at it!
Hi Marie!

hi!
chocolate is cool, but it wouldn't stand between me, my man and a 1/9 twist
Welcome Marie and rangegurl.

Hello, Terry!
My IL FOID app fee check has been cashed, just waiting now to get my FOID in the mail. I'm told it's taking 3-5 weeks for processing currently. I'll be very surprised if I have any issues getting it. I recently had to get a "risk assessment" thing from TSA due to my job (I'm in int'l shipping with access to air cargo), and I successfully passed, no problem.
