The Sgt bug has bit me. Ive got 18 yrs in with a variety of different assignments. I like being a cop and could see myself doing it for awhile longer. I have my 2 year AA degree, am looking for a accredited place where I could finish out my 4 year degree, preferably on line or in metro area Denver . People get more testing points with 4yr degrees in the agency I work for.

Enough to make a difference in anything other than a real close decision? ie: if you have 18 years with a AA and someone with 5 years on with a BA will the 5 year guy get it instead? Chances are if the difference between an AA and a BA are what pushes the 5 year guy over the the line, you may not have what it takes to be Sgt regardless of the degree.

Do you guys get point for past special units (DB, U/c narco, SWAT), instructor positions (FTO, Firearms etc), years of service, Military service, awards/accomodations, negative points for disipline etc.

Yes we get points assessed on our score for assignments, discipline, military experience and education, just trying to max out my score and be the most competitive candidate I can be.

I guess it all comes down to cost (time, monetary, energy) and reward (would you get it regardless).

Look at Penn State or Redlands Community College, which will go through University of Oklahoma.
