Advise for you guys that always want to eat free
On the 11th I came home from work with a bad headache (Just a Negotiator training day no physical stuff). Told the wife I was gonna take a short nap. I woke about an hour later with a worse headache, my jaw, shoulder and left hand felt like they were about to expolde. I didn't have any chestpain so I thought I'd gut it out. When I started sweating I told her to take me to the ER. I was rushed to the Cath lab and had two stents put in. Doc said I should have died. I've got other blockages that will be looked at later this month.
I'm 52 years old, I've never had any chest pain, my collesterol and lab work were fine in Jan. and even tho I smoked about a pack a day for too many years, my doc said he wouldn't have known i was a smoker by the xray. I'm only about 10lbs overweight and my only real exercise was at work getting in and out of the car and yardwork. I've always had my meals at fastfood places at work (FREE) . At home I would cook reasonably healthy.
On march 29th I ordered a new Mountain Bike, had a target date of quiting smoking when the mountain bike was delivered and the wife and I were gonna change the way we cooked at home and ride the bikes together.
Bottom line guys....... Eat right, Don't smoke, exercise and don't sweat the bullshit at work that stresses you out.
YOU MAY NOT HAVE AS MUCH TIME AS YOU THINK. MAKE THE BEST OF IT.
KUDOS TO St. Francis Bartlett ER, EMCH paramedics Clay and Joe (best ride I've ever had) and Dr. Pauluis and his team in the Cath Lab ICU and the 5th floor at St. Francis Park ave. Memphis , TN.
Pleased to hear you came out of it ok. Good luck on the lifestyle changes. Keep us posted.
And kudos to you for thanking the ACTUAL HUMAN BEINGS involved in your event, rather than "God must have wanted me to live". Ooooh that bugs me. Best of luck, buddy.
All that adrenaline we like so much is not conducive to a long life. Glad you're fairing well.
Exactly; tomorrow is never guaranteed.
Talk about a wake-up call. Thanks brother.
Thanks guys. Just because you don't have any symptoms.........
We're just glad that you're able to share your story with us. Here's to better health, brother. I'm on cholesterol meds at 30 years old.
One of my best friends is a Nurse Practicianer for a prominant Cardiologist here in town and was telling me this past month a study was published (she's trying to find it for me now) that shows LEOs have over a 50% HIGHER rate of work related heart problems than any other proffession AND the public. I'll post it here when she gets it to me. It should be a big help with heart and hypertension suits and programs when they try to fuck us.
