With all this cold weather it's pushing the spawn farther and farther back.
What's your experience here? Any idea when they will be on the flats and hungry? The water temps are still below 60 degrees around here and the fishing is crappy. (pun intended)
I dunno.... I haven't seen any even clearing beds.... or nesting on old beds on the lakes we fish..... We've fished a few times in the past few weeks and caught a few around two pounds...... I think these cold snap's is giving them lockjaw.... I'm ready for the bite to turn on... and the spring spawn.
I predict by mid march.... Things should start heating up......
It's looking like March all right. What's your experience for early and late times?
I was out in Kissimmee all week last week and did not see the first sign of a bed...
Now, I may have been late, but usually you see a few in the "waning days".....and we also had high winds and a cold front, but my guess is they haven't really gotten started good yet due to the weather...
Salt Springs on the St. Johns has been packed though, so I guess some have started there...
Holding out for some late spawners or real hungry posties for April 4 in Toho

Edit....I personally thought they would've started on Kissimmee by now, because it's usually in full swing by this time, but I guess the weather is off just enough...
Since they're behind so far, it's probably going to be fast an furious when the start, that's for sure...
I stayed at Camp Mack at Kissimmee by the way and ran into Kissimmee, Hatchineha and Cypress...didn't lock into Toho.....Saw Water Temps averaging low 60s, but dropping all week.
My buddy checked out this little lake off Hwy 471 yesterday (we spotted it from the air). It's in the Great Green swamp conservation area so you have to hike in a couple miles, no vehicles allowed.
No sign of spawning but he said the water is crystal clear and it was full of big bass, up to 10 pounds, that they could see. He said they sight fished and caught 3-4 pounders all afternoon. I can't wait to get out to it!

Yea it'll be march...... If these stupid cold fronts would stop. My buddy and his wife went yesterday but i haven't gotten a report from him yet. We usually hit it hot n' heavy in march.... So I thank you're right on... My only concern now is march winds.... Heard a old timer yesterday say it was goingto be a windy march...

NIIIIIIIIIIiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiice....... That would be an awsome day!

I bet they'll start hitting the beds this week. If I can sneak out of work tomorrow afternoon, my and my buddy are heading to the secret lake.
If I go, I'll bring a camera.

Well, we went. Fishing was tough but I saw this zombie gator:
