Best Mono for a Spinning reel?

I know braided line is all the rave. I also know opinions are like assholes... everyone's got one.... I was always told to stay away from braided, and a lot of manufacturers wont honor warantees if you've used it. I broke a $300 Legend Elite St. Croix rod tugging on a small snag with braided line. Ok, long story short. I like Mono line for my spinning reels. Most of my rods and reels are medium weight, fast action. I bass fish with moderate weight lures (1/8oz, 1/4oz etc). I'm lookinto switch to a new brand of Mono line.

What does everyone like? Hopefully I'll see some redundancy so I can make a choice based on it.

I use berkely vanish transistions and P-line florocarbon lines on my spinning reels (even use it as leader on my icefishing rods too) and have had pretty good luck with these too.

I use Stren original in 8-lb test/lo-vis green for most of my spinning rods.

Ok, good stuff. I like Stren, I've used a lot of it. Anyone else?

Izorline. Been a favorite of mine for years. Their 2lb test mono is about all I need for trout.

I used 8 lb stren one year. For some reason that stuff would cut the crap out of my fingers and knuckles while tying knots. Not much blood, just pull little slivers of skin loose almost like a paper cut.

Before braided lines I used mostly Trilene XT. I tried XL but after loosing a few lures while casting (it seemed really prone to breaking at any point where there was a little damage to the surface of the line. The XT was a little stiff on the spinning reels but it had better abrasion resistance and rarely broke.

I've used nothing but Andy mono for past 35 years.
Great mono line for the money.

P-line cxx has provided the best performance for me across the board.

Florocarbon line is the only way to go. I use 8# on a medium weight, fast action spinning setup. This stuff is amazing. It almost completely disappears under water and turns gold in the light so you can see it.

I just wish the stuff wasn't so expensive. $15 for a spool of line. Flurocarbon is decent, but its also a little more stiff than mono. Does the Vanish hold that tight coil shape when it comes off the spool or your reel? It has a tendancy to birds nest on less than perfect casts.

Cabela's Tectan is all we use. 4-6 lb. for trout and 12 lb. for everything else. Thinner diameter for the same strength level as regular Mono.

I've always used Stren or Ande. Liked them both.

+ 1 again. above statements are very accurate. Although I've never used the gold. I like to use the lightest tackle possible to catch the target species. It's nearly invisible underwater, low stretch (better sensitivity),abrasion resistant. You get way more hits with it over mono.

Stren original blue.
We haul in 30 pound salmon regularly on 14 - 17 lb test with no problems or kinking. I HATE braid....

For mono on my spinning reels I usually go with 8lb Berkley XT in either clear or green. I haven't had any major breakoffs besides the occasional 5lb snapping turtle at which point I just cut it and move on.

I also am a big fan of Bass Pro Shops Flurocarbon on 2 of my other spinning reels. I use 8lb fluro on both of them but have one permanently set up for Drop Shotting and the other set up for texas rigged soft plastics.

Original Stren.

Its tuff enough and still limp enough also.

I agree, Florocarbon is the way to go. And again I like Berkely Vanish, especially the clear red vanish. I only use mono for my slip bobber rig as it floats. If you want mono get Berkely Trinline. I would also personally advise against Stren as I find it frays. I think Berkely is the way to go for mono, florocarbon and I really like the berkely Fireline, but with it you get no stretch. Just my opinion.

Power pro. Hauls bass out of the weeds and snook out of the mangroves. 5ft gators to so I've been told :). Crowder fishing poles are used alot here in south FL. Life time warranty. When you lose that big one and break the rod over your knee take it and get another for free no questions asked. http://www.crowderrods.com/

Cajun Red for mono.

I prefer Power Pro green 30# for baitcaster. I havent touched a spinning reel in 20 years.

check out an-40 silverthread or yo-zuri hybrid soft. you can thank me later. DO NOT get vanish flouro! it is stiff as all get out. and expensive. an-40 is a hybrid of mono and flouro. it has the best qualities of both. trust me i was in your spot a few years back and spent lots of $ on line until i found these two! they work on baitcasters too.

Spinning? XL. It's that easy.

I have Fireline on one reel and hate it, but can't bring myself to remove it because it cost me so damn much money. Fluorocarbon is so stiff we use it for fly leaders.

I use green, for low visibility, but some like clear better.

except 4#, 8# and 10#

covers ultralight, spinning, and baitcasting. I have used 12# on my baitcasting several times. but I'm fishing texas rig worms in heavy brush.

I have fireline crystal on all my spinnig gear I love the stuff other than its kinda loud going through the guides and its really expensive but its casts so much further than mono and is extremely sensitive also outlasts mono by about 3 times. I highly recommend trying it. But if I could not have fireline I would have to use trilene XL its by far the best casting lowest memory mono I have ever used. My wife still uses the trilene XL she thinks im nuts for spending 16 bucks for roll so I have to secretly buy it with cash she did use one of my rods a couple months back she tells me she really likes the line too but its still not worth 16 bucks.
