It has a small leak. much like a dripping faucet. What would be the easiest way to fix this. I was thinking some silicone. Would that work? I want to avoid the sanding and fiberglass if at all possible, because of the time and mixing required (im impatient) and the price.

Is this plastic like a kayak or actual fiberglass? If it's plastic it can be repaired with a plastic welder (I think I paid like $120 for mine off ebay) and they work well. As for fiberglass, I'm not too sure of the best repair but a "tiger hair" patch comes to mind.

I have used hot glue to repair plastic kayaks before. The trick is to heat the glue stick with a propane torch and not use the "glue gun". The glue gun doesn't get hot enough where the torch will. The glue when superheated will adhere to the plastic much better than when applied with the glue gun. Be careful as the glue can ignite when using the torch. Keeping a glue stick in your repair kit as well as a cheap butane lighter can be helpful for field repairs.
