 On going motor trouble

Well first time out this yr. Took me long enough.lol

Still having trouble with with my zuk 07 DF 140 using fuel like it's going outa style.lol
Took 15 gallons to fishcamp and back.
It should have done it less than 9gal like my old worn out 150 2-stroke.

Have tested fuel pressure and it comes out in spec except it drops rapidly below minimum.
Will not hold pressure and have gone over all the connections.
Everything is clean clean clean fuel wise.

Going up the motor would start losing rpm's and i would have to pump the primer bulb.
Had to do this at least 7 times going up.
Only had to do it 3 times coming down.

Prop pitch is a 21 zuk and was getting right up to the 6200 speced in the book but still seemed to be under powered.

Also done with the dealer.
Went in and talked with them to get the print out of what they got from the computer.
They could not even find my serial numbers.
I had forgotten my book with all the numbers.
I do know when they checked compression they had too use 2 testers because the numbers were outa whack on the first one and came out on the low side for being basically a new motor with only 80hrs.
Cost me over $1000 to get it sent back and forth too the dipsticks.

Any hints KB.

Explain more..you mean it is ok at idle and drops off as RPM is increased? Will not hold pressure and have gone over all the connections.

This is suspect. How is the engine oil? Is it diluted with fuel? I wonder if the mechanical pump diaphragm is ruptured and leaking fuel into the engine. IIRC it uses a mechanical pump mounted to the valve cover driven from the cam.Prop pitch is a 21 zuk and was getting right up to the 6200 speced in the book but still seemed to be under powered.

Tested it without the engine running per the book. Which i have and am going slowly through it.
Just turn the key on then see what the pressure is and then see if it holds.
That's all the book said to do but i do want to run it with the tester.

It did make oil when brand new and few times after we replaced the low pressure pump(the one on back of the motor).
Will check today as i was letting it sit on level ground.
Motor does produce smoke on start up mostly when cold but does do it warm.
I know from other forums that the DF140 has trouble with vapor locking in a warm environment along with other troubles.lol
Used dino oil when breaking in the motor.

Local dealer just became a zuk dealer this early spring so will be talking with them too.

Thanks for the help KB.

I'll look at work Thursday for any service bullitins for the Johnson version of this motor. Suzuki made the powerheads for Johnson IIRC. Oh, and as an aside, Johnson Outboards have been discontinued...sad day in outboard history.
ETA–– having to pump the primer bulb tells me there is something in the tank, lines, filter, low pressure pump or restricted inlet to the VST (vapor separator/high pressure pump assy.) Possibly the float in the VST is set too low. How are the spark plugs? Does it look like it's running rich on all or any one plug?

Thanks.

Damn did not know they were dropping Johnson.
