I'm new here, but been a longtime lurker on GD. I fish 3 or more days a week, so let's get this fishing section some posts. I've got tons of pics. All are my copyright, but please feel free to enjoy, just don't spread them everywhere. thanks

what flies do you use for specs?

We catch a bunch of seatrout(specks) night fishing for snook. The fly is simple, but kinda hard to describe. Basically, a 2-inch white synthetic tail with a white sparkle collar on a #1 VMC hook. Works great for snook and trout at night.

what worked for me alot fer trout under the docks at night , was a small i mean small fly. tied it down to about the size of a small minnow. peacock top, white flash sides,
ill have to dig it out and take pics.

the far bottom right is the one. i made two. musta lost the 1st. it was the same but had a lil red feathernear the front.

others seem'd to do well at night. the 2nd from top left has a rattle in it. which seem'd to do ok on some snook etc.
the craft foam poppers. were great on super sized lady fish( im talkin' 38+ inchers) and small tarpon at night also.

wish i had pics but it was all before i had a digital...

hmmm i have a 5/6 wt rod, what does that limit me to on saltwater fish? I'm confident it could handle specks at least!! Small tarpon would be exciting!!!!!!!

run a super light tippetand smaller flys.
i used to run 2lb test on a 5 ft ultra light on them large lady fish.... bad thing was they were on a flat so,, all they could do was haul ass away,, poor mans bone fish

i also run a 5wt fro bass fishing so, i dont see why it wouldnt do well on some specks and small poons

haha ok cool
i've never fished for tarpon, i know large ones can be caught in mobile bay where i live and since the bay is just a big estuary i'm sure baby ones live here as well. Any tips on how to fish for the tarpon? Spot fishing is made difficult by the muddy bay water, and i don't know if the babies roll like the big ones?
