I just bought a Molle Rifleman set, and would like to change the color to green.

Anybody ever do this and have success? If so, what was your method of doing this?

What is the original color?

If ACU, the result will be a green-based digital pattern, with the light grey of the ACU replaced by light green, the med gray by med green, and the dark grey by dk green. The foliage webbing will be dk green.

If 3-color desert, the brown will remain brown, the light brown will be a medium greenish khaki, and the light tan will be light greenish khaki. The webbing will be khaki. Not a bad color for arid brushlands.

The above is done by a fairly quick dunking. If you go longer, you risk losing the pattern on the DCU, and the whole thing being dark green, as in very dark green.
With the DCU, it might be possible to go longer than the quick dunking I gave it, and darken the green a bit without losing the dark brown.

Oringinal color is ACU. I am attemping to get it to go to a dark green, or at very least to get rid of as much of the ACU color scheme as possible.

Unless there is a compelling reason for you to dye the thing DK green, I suggest that the green-overdyed digital pattern might serve you better, as the overdyed pattern will be a bit less likely to "blob" out. It is simple to do either. A fairly brief dunking will give a greenish tinge to the whole thing, and a longer dunking will deepen the green color; with enough exposure to the dye, the whole thing will become greener. with excessive dye exposure, the green wil become so deep as to be indistinguishable from black. What you see is what you get when dyeing nylon, so pull it out when things look good. You can always re-insert, but if you leave it in too long, it is hard to remove the dye.

Thanks for the advice! I will most likely end up doing what you suggest and will probably have a thread on it.

There are certain colors that will weird out the color pattern so check into their use before using them. Brown doesn't work too well on its own btw.....

Here's another link

You have to dig through it but there are several rit dye color combinations/recipes in there
