My wife unit wants to spruce up the front of this joint and wants to plant small flowering things along the front of the house. I need some suggestions of nice looking plants that like Florida. They'd be on the east side and get full sun until about 1, and then shade. Ground is pretty sandy. Being Florida, it rains every day in the summer, and not much the rest of the year. Temps are 100* summer to maybe 20* for a bare week in the winter. I don't want to have to replant these every year either.

So far what I've come up with by going to Lowe's and looking them up online is

I like lantana for flowering and toughness. There are 3 varieties that I know of: a bushy type, a trailing type, and an endangered variety from Florida. They are all really prolific, grow like mad, and flower just about all year long. Butterflies and hummingbirds love them. Ii doesn't usually freeze much in SE Texas, but the 2 years lately when it froze for a few nights, the lantana died, but it grew back in the spring.
