 Arizona Elk chances

I drew an AZ archery tag many years ago when we were stationed in AZ and I am wanting to try again. I am wondering how many years a guy needs to apply for a chance. I will be doing it by myself and the area doesn't make much difference nor does the hunting method. Archery, blackpowder or rifle. Due to an auto accident I think my hunting years are getting numbered and would like one more chance for a nice elk before I can't hunt anymore. Any ideas?
Thanks,
WW

they have the draw odds on the az game and fish web site. if you don't care, cow or bull, put in for unit 10. that area has good odds on getting a cow tag. az has a draw so your chance is supposedly as good as anyone elses. if you want a bull tag, well those aren't so easy to get anymore...

I get drawn for cow about every 3 years, but for a bull tag, especially in a good area, you'll have to wait a bit. Try an area like 19a or 19b where there aren't so many people hunting, yet still plenty of nice bulls. If you try for 6a, 8, 10, 9, etc. where all the "trophy" hunters go, then you'll usually be in for a wait of 4 years or so. Could get lucky, though, hard to predict the system here in AZ.

I have 9 points in AZ and still waiting to draw for Bull rifle.

And 13 pts in CO without drawing yet.

Good units take time I am finding.
