Congratulations to Texas Rangers outfielder Josh Hamilton for picking the best county in Texas to come hunt and kill a nice buck!

I have to ask, what does it cost to hunt in this area?

Way too much if you have to pay. Obviously there are some areas that are better than others and the prices will show that. We have one place that's about 300 acres that we use mostly to hunt hogs on that the owner was offered $8000 to lease just for deer and it's really not that great for deer. We do most of our deer hunting about a mile up the road farther away from the majority of the hogs.

Leases close to Hagerman can be outrageous. I saw one listed the other day, I think it was 120 acres for $25,000.

I wouldn't hunt here if I had to pay.

That is an awesome buck. Did you guide him? Were y'all the outfitter?

Hahahaha...no

I just know a whole lot of hunters around here so when anything cool is going on I usually get a phone call, text or an email. Josh kind of getting to be a regular around these parts. His favorite BBQ place is here in town and owned by a friend of mine and he's been up there several times. Seems like every time you turn around somebody else is seeing him somewhere else.

I just realized it was a bow buck and it looks like a neck shot.

Nice to know even someone who can face a major league pitcher during the World Series and get a hit, gets nervous when a deer that big comes in bow range.

My wife and I had the pleasure of meeting Josh back in September, he was a very pleasant and polite person.

We were fans before, and even more so now.

Nice buck, but unfortunately when it's big and comes from Texas I usually get the image of high fences, big money, and heard deer. If it's one of those, who cares, if not, good job.
