Trying to choose between the two will be going on my hunting AR. About the same price and right now I'm leaning towards the nikon because of the side focus.

what say you

I have both and to my eyes the Burris is better optically. I think both are very good scopes and don't think you can make a bad choice. Oh yeah, Burris has fantastic customer service.

I have both, not in the same mag/objective, but I own scopes from both lines. They are both quality pieces and I can't complain.

I will say that Burris has outstanding customer service - I broke one of my scopes, my fault, bashed the heck out of it, and they still tried to repair it at their own cost. When they couldn't, they gave me 60% off anything direct from the factory. Which is how I came into my fanciest scope, which now only needs a rifle to put under it (maybe an OBR if I ever scrounge the money together?).

The Nikon has been good, I've used it a lot less, it has held its zero under pretty substantial recoil, never needed their customer service.

I've been very fond of the buckmaster line for years. Currently own 2. I have the 4.5-14 and it's a good scope. Only complaint is a somewhat narrow field of view. If I had it to do over again, I would have got another 3-9x40. Otherwise. quite pleased. I have used Nikon's customer service as well, and found it to be exceptional.

I have both.
I STRONGLY prefer the Burris.

I also have both scopes; I prefer the turrets, side focus, and overall construction of the Nikon, but I echo the above in that the Burris is better optically and customer service wise.
