I usually have a cigar lit while I'm hunting, cause I don't really ever smoke at home. It doesn't seem to deter any birds that are planning to land from doing so. Does anybody else have any experience or thoughts on this?

What about hunting in a drysuit? I used to be on a water rescue team and wore them then. Seems like that'd be a surefire way to stay safe even if you went in the drink, eh. I've never even looked to see if they are made in camo... I think I might google that today.

I use the jerky recipe off the Traeger website but I'm curious if anybody has a personal favorite of their own they'd be willing to share???

cheers, Benji

here's my take from today: (one Pintail crawled out of the tree I laid them in and got away... )

Old dog is old...

Smoking won't bug the birds unless you are moving around while they are checking you out. I've never had duck jerky. I always roast them.

Last year I got my first mallard with a Newport 100 in my face. It also brings in the Blue Bills

I smoke all the time hunting everything, and I do really well. I thought it would be a bad idea with turkey but it don't bother them...

Yea, I smoke cigars on occasion. It was too f-ing cold this morning to smoke though.
I never made duck or goose jerky. Just grilled or pan roasted.
