Has any one used a stag lefty in a carbine class?
Hi guys. has anyone used a stag lefty in a tactical rifle/carbine class? I plan on going to a class this year with my stag lefty and wanted some feedback on the rifles performance in that area. I've got around 2000 rounds (give or take) through it mostly running tac drills, shooting/plinking and hunting and so far it has run great so I just want to know what to expect out of my rifle when I go there. So any feedback would be great. Thanks.
It has a H2 buffer and a BCM extractor spring upgrade kit in it as well.
I have used mine (built by me with a Stag LH upper and BCG) No issues at all with it except I broke the Rock River Ambi selector towards the end of the first day, put in a regular selector that night.. But the Stag components held up fine. I let other people use it in the class and the instructor ended up putting a couple of hundred rounds through during the lunch break. He wasn't interested in the left hand aspect of it, but is thinking of getting a dissy, so mine was an opportunity for him to try one.
You don't have many rounds through yours so I'd run it the way it is and have a set of gas rings on hand. I keep a spare Bolt but I think most guys do that anyway left or right handed.
How does it work with different ammo? For classes and qualification I shoot brass, for at home and on my own I shoot silver bear.
Thanks for the reply Sir! glad to hear that it worked well. I've only shot win white box and fed xm193 and AE xm193 through it. I'm going to try some x-tac pmc soon. The only issue I had was with my larue LT150 aimpoint mount lever didn't let the dust cover open enough and would jam when the dust cover was closed, but would shoot fine if you left it open. I turned the mount so the lever was on the other side and that fixed the problem.
You are welcome, you are shooting what I shoot for class. Yes that upward dust cover can cause a problem. I have not had an issue with it but don't recall ever closing it after chambering a round. Good luck and have fun in class.

Great write up, i emailed the op and asked how the stag ran. His reply was:
"stag was stock with an eotech.. ran fine... no problems... just lube it...recommend the extractor upgrade."
You should do a write up after you run yours!

Thank you Sir for the info! I do plan on a report after the class, on weapons preformance, gear that we used and thoughts on the class. Thanks for the feedback!
