Guys, picked up on closeout from spike's the carbine piston kit. I got couple of questions:
Will any free float rail system work?
My kit did not include the dowel that is use for installing the bushing into the upper. Will a long punch will do?
Last, did not know that spike design uses pins to hold the gas block in. Can the gas block use the pre-existing pin holes already drilled in a barrel?

I have searched high and low for a rail system that will fit over the gas block and so far have found none. The gas block is NOT low profile. Your best bet if you are looking for an extended rail is a FSB type. Adams Arms offers probably one of the best rail systems of this style, it is manufactured by Samson.

Regarding the gas block pins, it is highly unlikely that pre-existing pin holes will line up. Chances are you will have to drill new pin holes.

I have purchased the same kit and for installation of the bushing I plan on simplifying it with the hot/cold method. Toss the bushing in the freezer the night before and when you install, hit the upper with a heat gun. The slight expansion will aid in any "press fit" installation. Tap in the bushing until flush with the face of the receiver.
