I have misplaced my SR-15 manual and I want to clean underneath the rail. I am trying to figure out how to remove the bottom section so I can do this. It appears to be screwed in by hex keys and I am assuming I have to unscrew these to get at the barrel- however I want to be sure I am not missing something and it comes off much easier just like KAC M4 rail systems by pulling back on the ring normally found on m4/ar15s.

You are correct that you have to remove the screws on both the 3 & 9 o'clock rails first. Then you have to depress a detent at the rear of the 6 o'clock rail next to the magwell with a punch or bullet if tools are in short supply. Finally slide the bottom rail forward till you can lift it out and viola bottom rail removed.
