Sights on 11" or 13" only, and are optional. I'm looking at the same rail.

I thought black friday was 30% off but I don't see the coupon.

Add the 1.00 stickers and you will see it. It was the only way the wife would approve.

Damn.

I wanted an Alpha rail and couldn't get the discount to apply. Wound up getting a TRX Extreme and a separate front sight.

I don't think they work with a mid length gas system, what's the deal with that?

what do you mean "no sight" "w/ sight"???

They mean exactly what it says. Some alpha rails have a built in front sight, some don't.

The 11" alphas with the built in sight do work with a mid length, but the gas block needs to be filed down for the sight to clear it when folded down. Obviously if you file too much, you run the risk of ruining the gas block. So Troy's statement is more of a CYA deal. Same thing with the 13" and rifle gas systems.

A gas system thats longer than mid, but shorter than rifle. Its what KAC uses on the SR15 and its also used by Noveske.

No. The whole point of the Alpha was to do away with the proprietary barrel nut, barrel nut wrench, and that funky little tab with the helicoils that is on the bottom rear of the old TRX Battlerails. The sight was just a bonus. I recently bought an 11" Alpha w/sight and it is an incredibly light piece. I liked the new mounting system so much that I decided to buy a 9" w/o sight for my 10.5" and a 13" w/o sight for my 16" middy.

The coupon is a single use coupon.

would the rails work better if you use one of the low profile gas blocks rather than a cut off FSB? I am referring to the mid length.

It isn't going to change anything. The height of the gas tube where it enters the gas block is the same with both low pro and shaved FSB. The flip up sight lays where the gas block and gas tube would be.

So, 11" w/sight works on carbine length gas systems and 13" w/sight works on midlength gas systems.
