$1100 from my calculations would be a good start.

You can part it out and make a little more.

It might sell for less.

You should be able to make more by parting it out. It may take a little longer that way, but it is the best way to get the most out of it.

Maybe the owner of the dealership is a firearm enthusiast.

You don't own a bicycle? I'd go with someone else's recommendation, and see if the dealership owner likes guns.

Nice rifle. You may be better off selling in pieces, that's worked for me in the past.

You'll get more here by parting it out. Frankenguns sell slowly here and at low prices. If you are selling locally on Craig's List it might be a different story

UPDATE: I dont have to sell it. Lucky me decided to take your guys advice and talk to the owner of the deealership and found out he is a Army vet himself. And he has a Passion for the AR15/M16 line of weapons. When I asked him if he would be willing to take my rifle in trade for repairs he smiled and said " As much as I would love to have your gun I couldnt do that to you. Instead how about we work out a payment arrangement so you can keep it" I had a dumb founded look on my face as I smile and said " holy SH*T really?" So now with half my money down on repaires and rest on good faith I have my rifle in hand safely back in the gun vault. After chatting for an hour he invited me to his private range on his homestead. No wonder this guy is in bussiness for 25+ years. Customer Service is harder to beat than any deal out there...

Yay for happy endings. I had a trans. problem years ago and the manager at Aamco took some rifles as colateral till I could pay off the bill. Good deal.

Iwas super stoked to hear that when he said it. I guess even in a big city one can still get small town service.

I was unaware that asking what a fair market value for something was selling it? I see value asked in this forum all the time.

If I was going to sell it on here I wouldve put it in the EQUIPMENT section. Then again I guess this is what happins when someone asks a simple question and someone assumes..

Did you change gear ratios in the differentials for the tires, or are you letting the trans take all of the abuse? Building a trans for a lift seems odd to me.
mrblueagian  [Member]
2/21/2012 3:03:23 PM
no I changed the gears out to 4:56 first gear in tranny is geared lower for the start and also has a offroad valve kit. its goes down the highway at 65 MPH at around 3100 RPM she pretty much stays at 65 any more higher shes taching to high for my liking

That is a pretty sweet story.

The Dave Ramsey believer inside of me is wanting to yell "SAVE UP 6 MONTHS EXPENSES IN AN EMERGENCY FUND" to you, but I realize that his financial planning is not for everyone. If you want more info on that though, feel free to PM me. It would make car repairs and other emergencies a lot easier to take in the future.

That is some great news! Glad you got to keep your gun. I would hate to part with any rifle i own.
