New Charging Handle

Looking to replace the orig charging handle on my AR... I've not been able to find anyplace where specific model/manufactures have been recommended.

Do i need to replace the entire handle, or just the latch? Looking for something a little bigger easier to function.

My recommendation is getting a BCM gunfighter.

Best charging handle hands down and it is drop in replacement. For the money it cannot be beat.

Comes in different sizes also.

Ditto on the BCM Gunfighter, I prefer the Mod 2 style. You should be able to get one for about $45.

You're gonna get a lot of replies about the BCM Gunfighter series, which is a complete charging handle replacement, and very highly recommended. (ETA - told ya. )

I also like the PRI M84 GasBuster for suppressed weapons, and Rainier Arms is supposed to be coming out with a new ambidextrous charging handle in partnership with AXTS that I am watching with great anticipation.

You can, however, for a much lower cost option choose to simply replace the charging handle latch with any of dozens of options out there that may or may not suit your needs ranging in price from $7 to $60.

You could go either way. I once replaced the stock latch with a Badger extended latch. At first I thought it looked cool, but after using it for a while I hated it. I didn't like shooting or carrying with it.

All of mine now utilize BCM Mod 4 Gunfighters, which are complete replacement handles. Moderately extended but unobtrusive while being a stronger design.

If you don't run any gear get the large. I have the large and the first time i used it with a plate carrier it snagged on everything.

I dont currently, but I would like to... will probably just go with the medium latch (mod4)

I ran a Badger latch on a CMT charging handle for a long while. It took me a lot of practice to use it properly, easy weak hand charging, not digging my side or catching on things. I kept working the gun and me harder and it never let me down until during malfs I yanked the sucker so hard I bent the handle ending its run. I was getting ready to order the BCM and saw a core15 in the new products section so I ordered one to try. It has taken a beating so far but is hasn't gotten the use so far as the CMT w/badger did. Just my Joe Consumer experience it's just a hobby for me.

I like the offerings from Core 15. The latch has more surface area without sticking out more vs. a standard latch.

The bcm charging handle is great and ill probably get 1 one day, but i have had no problems with my mil spec charging handle. Does anyone know if the bcm charging handle works as a gas buster?

I've got a BCM Mod 3, and love it. Can't go wrong!

Ditto. I much prefer my Core 15 CH to my BCM.

I have a BCM, but I'm gonna pick up one of the Core15s in OD green .

Mod 3 or mod 4 are the only way I go.

I have two of them and they are great.

My next will be the redesigned gunfighter latch though.

Remember there's more to these fancy charging handles than just lever size

Also I'd suggest a bcm mod 5, even the mod 4 seems to stick out too far and get's really damn annoying during a 2 day carbine course jabbing your fat belt
