Noveske 12.5" to go with my 10.5"?

So I have a Noveske 10.5" and I love it. Also thanks to the some of the members here it now runs great with everything I've put through it to this point. Lately though I've been thinking about building another 5.56 pistol upper. I really like the things I'm seeing about the Noveske 12.5" barrel (Velocities like a regular 14.5" barrel), but I have doubts on it running right with my setup.

Current Setup:
-Noveske 10.5" SS Barrel (Carbine length gas system)
-Fail Zero Semi BCG
-BCM Extractor upgrade
-Extra Power Buffer Spring
-H2 Buffer
-Troy Claymore

Main reason I'm thinking about building a 12.5" is if the SHTF it will give me a decent frag range with m193 and m855 ammo (popular SHTF ammo). What I see as a problem is that I had a KX3 on my 10.5" and with SSA ammo it was getting too much gas. Thats basically the same thing as running a Noveske 12.5" barrel (has a Carbine length system as well). I dont plan to run SSA all the time in it, but I know I will run it.

Do you guys think a H3 buffer and maybe a Full Auto BCG (preferrably Fail Zero again) will get it to run like my 10.5"?

I have a Noveske Diplomat 8.5" barrel, on Noveske marked VLtor VIS.

This thing runs extremely well and I'm only using a standard buffer and a Noveske FA BCG. Only thing I notice is alot more gas in my face. This must be why it runs so well, this gas system was tuned to perfection unlike those with cheap setups who wine about their PPP.

Not to hijack the thread but could you post a couple of pics of your build Colt-45? I was thinking about putting together a Noveske 8.5" when their new NSR rail comes out. Are you using a brake or flash hider with it?

Colt 45, that's great you have an 8" running. For what it's worth I have an 8" 300blk about ready to be tested.
Unfortunately none of this really answers my question.

Hey BMT, I have a Noveske 12.5" Crusader SBR and it runs fine with both an H2 and H3 buffer and semi-auto or full-auto BCG. I would probably just stick with a flash hider instead of the KX3 for the 12.5". If your really only concerned about your ammo during a SHTF situation then I would skip the 12.5" build and spend that money on ammo for that situation. If you haven't read this, you may want to.

If I build a 12.5", its definitely not getting the KX3.

On the ammo situation, I do need to get more and different ammo. Unfortunately the ammo I would like to get for SHTF, I cant seem to find. What I'm really looking for is 70gr brown tip and maybe the 64gr bonded. These should do great for my 10.5". About the only thing I can find that should be alright is mk318, but the 70gr and 64gr should allow me more range..

Should I just go with mk318 for SHTF ammo and be done with it? Probably over thinking thise whole situation.

The mk318 is definitely cheaper and according to that article an acceptable choice. For me in a SHTF situation I am going to use whatever I have or can get a hold of. In reality who wants to be hit by any type of bullet. Test out SSA's 70 tsx and their 64gr bonded and if they do ok in your 10.5" then just buy a little to mix in with your M193 and M855.

I have some SSA 77gr SMK and 70gr TSX, and they run great in my 10.5". I do plan on running some of the 64gr PPT also. Thought that mil ammo would be a little better because its sealed. SSA doesnt, but then again they sell to FBI and police and they dont seem to care about that too much.

I completely agree with what you say about shooting anything in SHTF situations, hence why I was thinking about 12.5". Specifically a Noveske barrel cause they get about the same as a 14.5" (chrome lined I believe). I got some time to think about it, I may try a 12.5" or just say screw it and go right for a 16" rifle build.
