Dutch/ Porto AR10 bayonet
With just about 1600 of these made, for the life of me I can't figure out why the go for under $400.
Heck, FAL Type B bayonets run $600+ and there are more of those.
I'd think Porto AR10 bayonets should go for a grand, but when they show up nobody bids them that high.
What's the deal?
The ones I see going for $350 have generally be refinished or repaired.
I think it's a function of market size.
I paid, I think, $550 for mine (VG+ condition) not long after paying $1000 for a green-handled M7 for my 601, and I wondered the same thing. But, if we discount the handful of bayo collectors who are "crazy" enough to pay top dollars for bayonets for which they have no corresponding rifle, the Portuguese bayonet is of real interest only to the small group of Port rifle owners. Then consider that there were probably as many bayonets made as rifles, they're probably not as "rare" relative to the number of likely buyers as some other blades.
Just my theory, at least!
