I was starting to build a SPR ar, which will be gas piston driven but I have come across a question for you all out there. If I were to use a 18'' wilson arms match barrel and a rifle length Adams Arms gas piston kit would I run into any reliability issues using a milspec carbine length buffer tube rather than a A2 length buffer extension tube? I want to use a Magpul ACS stock for this particular build. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!!

I would say no,in anything it will have more than enouh gas seeing how the barrel has a gas hole designed for DI.

Better choice just go with a Adams Arms upper, their barrels have a gas port sized for correct gas pressure with a AA system. Plus their melonited barrels have a higher (muzzle velocity) FPS than standard barrels.

Thanks I already have a complete adams arms carbine set up and I love it. For this build though I wanted to use a SPR type barrel while still running a piston kit. I was mainly concerned if the buffer extension tube length or type of buffer would possibly cause a short stroke or malfunction if i were to run a rifle length piston kit on a carbine length buffer tube.

I would run a spikes T2 buffer or get fancey I know it gets bashed here on ar15.com but a Enidine hydrolic buffer works great too.

The best thing to do is just give AA a call. I have had their products for a couple yrs now, most recently a pistol build. I had an issue with the carrier key (retro fit kit), and got a hold of them and they took care of me.
