If you keep an eye on gunbroker, etc you can find a nice Colt for $800ish.
ArmaLite and Bushmaster are only two that I can think of who sell complete 20" A2 rifles. Colt discontinued theirs.
I'd buy a lightly used Colt 6551 or 6601 on gunbroker. They can be had for 700 to 800 occasionally. That's what I did.
I bought a 6601 new for $950 when I learned they were discontinued... and I really love it. It's a great rifle. If you can find one... definitely worth getting.

If you lean back while shooting (NRA high power style) it is vastly superior to the 6551. If you lean forward while shooting (3-gun style) you better have a very strong left arm. Since this is arfcom, that shouldn't be a problem.
I ordered a Del-Ton.
For an A-2 I think most build their own out of surplus parts. Lots of low mileage surplus uppers floating around pretty cheap right now and an A-2 lower is an A-2 lower realistically.

Way to plug your own auction.
I bought a nice used Colt Sporter Target with small pivot pin and fence for $800 about 1-2 months ago off gunbroker. Between the Sporters and the Match Targets, you can find an ALL COLT piece for reasonable.

I don't mind the HBAR so much.. especially not enough to just not use it. If I ever shoot it out, I'll probably go government profile with a flash hider...
