Herters .223 FMJ, steel casing, personal experience?

Anyone have experience with this ammo? I have a new built AR and need some cheap plinkin ammo, I heard 1 fellow who individually cleaned each round b/c they were a bit more dirtier than high grade ammo, anyone shot this stuff before? or can recco cheap plinkin in bulk to buy?
Thanks.
Cabelas has a box of 20 for $5.99, or $139.99 for 500rnds with dry box..
ETA: Is it true that steel casings can hurt/damage barrels? I have a double chromed 16'' MG from PSA, any thoughts if I should avoid steel or will it be GTG to use on occassion....
Fired 200+ rounds through my 14.7 PSA upper not one problem and grouped pretty well at 50 and 100 yards I would buy more.
Just finished off the last of the 500 rnds I bought a month ago. seemed pretty decent to me. I have no frame of reference though. this is my first ar and Herters was the first ammo I sent down range.
Shot a few boxes, no problem.
Shot wolf too, no hiccups.
I'm going to buy steel from now on, $6/box is too much.
It is Tula, just labeled different for Cabelas
Read the Ammo FAQ and "Box O Truth" for info on steel cased ammo.
You can find it cheaper online btw
Runs fine in my guns. Plinking ammo in my opinion.
I run it in my AR... Stag lower, RRA upper... out of the 300 rounds i've shot in the last 2 months, 1 Failed to feed... no big deal... I keep a magazine for home defense ( has Federal 5.56 in it ) and i have 4 magazines i use for plinking/range... i wouldnt trust my life on it, but it's good to go boom.
Check the
Ammunition review and reference link at the top of the ammunition page (there is a globe by it). It's listed under "Tula / Wolf Black Box / Herters" and links to 2493 user reviews.

Bought 8 boxes to try them out today (160rnds), shot them today and seemed ok, more smoke then I'd imagine, and an "ammonia" smell after the first few shots, ran clean, no FTE/FTF, casing is stamped tula, $4.99 on sale @ Cabela's isn't a bad deal, seems alot of folks are buying it up, only a few boxes left b4 I got there. Shot straight at 25yds. Nice ammo for plinkin
