ASC mags, good to go?
Curious about their .308/SR-25 Stainless Steel mags, specifically.

Not for 80 bucks, hell no. Is he crazy?

Why not???? That fine Texan that there Mr. LaRue is he is!
How else is he going to pay for all those FREE LaRue Range Days, FREE LaRue BBQ wherever he shows up, and the FREE OBR rifles he used to give away every month on this site. Besides, all his stuff is totally Made In the USA (but he can't say if all materials and tooling are absolutely completely SOURCED from the USA).
Yes, damn fine gentleman he is. Treats his customers great ya know! You just have to PAY for it!

I would ALSO like to hear, whether the ASC 308 mags are GTG or not.
Yes, thx, I KNOW about the PMags, the LaRue, the SR 25, the DPMS.
I want to hear / read about the NEW ASC 308´s!

I just bought 5 of them from Midway. I just got a new LR-308L last
week and the mags came in today. They are far too tight. They measure
about 5 thousands to big on the sides and 10 thousands too much
on the "Spine". Far too tight.
That's weird, I just spoke with them on the phone today, they said they were as good if not better than the C-Products version and that they wouldn't sell something that didn't work. They confirmed it would work fine in my REPR. Haven't ordered em just yet though.
DPMS is known for being out of spec though, you sure yours is all right?

Where is there any evidence of DPMS being out of spec? My DPMS mags work fine.
The ad said these were Stoner mags that fit LR-308 and SR-25 rifles. There was one
review that said they fit well in his LR-308 and another said they did not fit his
SR-25. I kind of feel the add was deceptive and expected stoner mags. But like I wrote, they
are bigger in width and thickness that both of my DMPS mags that fit my rifle
just fine. I have some magpul mags coming in tomorrow. I will see how they fit
when they get here.

Are you using ASC magazines, or AR-Stoner mags?

They were marketed as Stoner per the ad link I posted. But this
is what they sent. I am shipping them back tomorrow.
I just emailed ASC in regards, we'll see what they have to say.
Midway was buying C-Product mags rebranded as "AR-Stoner"- the only difference was the name on the floor plate.
I got the Pmags today and they fit great and drop free. The rifle must
be fine and the ASC mags were bad. I read on the net that they built
them on C Products machinery. I have some more DPMS mags coming.
Just got this email from ASC after showing this thread and asking if there was a problem:
You are correct. We had a small batch of product that is out of spec and somehow slipped through our inspection process. We are examining our process to see how this happened and making the corrections to avoid any possible future oversight. We will of course replace any out of spec magazine that was received out there free of charge. We certainly apologize for any incontinence this may cause. Be assured all new production is to spec and functions as intended.
Send em back to ASC, they'll hook you up.

I wonder if I would come out ahead by sending to ASC instead of
returning them to Midway for a refund. I do have to say that wrote a
bad review about the mags and they showed as sold out pretty
quick. They did not print my bad review though.
Sounds like you would, I guess call em up and explain, get an RMA number, send em in to trade for the new ones.
I called up ASC today and spoke to Barry. He was very friendly
and is making this right.
He said they did let some out of spec mags get out. I can
really respect honesty like that. He said if anyone else has
issue like mine they can call him for a resolution.
Let us know how the new mags are.

I sure will, the problem is that my new rifle has ejection issues
and I have to send it back to DPMS. So it might be a few weeks.
Hey bandit did you ever get to try those new mags out?

I had the same issue with one not fitting. They sent me a new one before even receiving the old one I had ordered from Hamlund Tactical and included a return slip in the package to save my postage costs. New one is DEFINITELY gtg!

Haven't received them yet. I will be contacting them again next week

That sounds promising.
Let us know what happens when you contact them, Bandit.
Replacement mags got here today. The fit fine and drop free.
They look well made.
Nice. How well do they perform in regards to feeding ammo?
Went to the range today and was still having ejection issues
with p mags. Swapped over to a ACS mag and started getting
failures to feed and bent rounds. After I got home I noticed that
there were copper colored marks on the upper under each feed
ramp. I put in the ASC mag and noticed that the front of it is
cut lower than the DPMS mag and the pmag.
It seems that the a mag does not help guide the round
to the feed ramp. It lets the front of the round crash
into the upper receiver below the barrel extension.

I just received 2 of the 7.62x39 mags(10 rd ASC) was dry cycling and they would not hold the bolt open. i also noticed that when loaded the bullet angled down at the front. Quick inspection found the spring in backwards(out of a factory sealed bag). Installed spring correctly and everything is GTG.

The ones I have for 5.45 are amazing, no ftf ever

That went from sounding not so good to not bad at all. Bandit, can you inspect your springs and report back?
The spring appears to be in the mag properly. Look at the pics below. The ASC
mag is on the left. See how the front is cut out more than the DPMS mag?
The pic of the receiver shows where the bullets impact the receiver well below
the feed ramps. When I install the DPMS mag and Pmag in the rifle they hide
those marks.
I am still working out other issues so the jury is not totally out. But it does
not look promising.
Have you contacted ASC in regards yet?
